From Jerusalem: Petra & Wadi Rum 3-Day Tour

1. From Jerusalem: Petra & Wadi Rum 3-Day Tour

Day 1: Your tour begins with a drive through the fertile Jordan Valley to the Sheikh Hussein border crossing in the North. Your first stop is Jerash, one of the world’s best-preserved Roman towns. Journey through time as you walk the colonnaded streets behind the impressive Hadrian’s Arch, and discover the Greco-Roman architecture telling 4,000 years of Mediterranean history. After lunch at a local restaurant, head to the capital to learn about Amman’s cultural importance and eventful past, featuring palaces, a museum and the Temple of Hercules, and panoramic views across the city. Drive to a Bedouin camp near Petra, savor a traditional dinner, enjoy authentic Bedouin hospitality beneath the clear desert skies and listen to local music, before heading to rest in your tent’s comfortable bed. Day 2: After breakfast, take a day to explore Petra, carved into the red stone by the Nabataeans around 2,000 years ago. Hear about Petra’s complex history, followed by lunch in a local restaurant. In the afternoon, explore the sites by yourself, and admire the Hellenistic architecture, before heading back for dinner. Day 3: Your last day starts with an exciting ride through the exquisite and virtually untouched desert landscape of Wadi Rum. A 4x4 jeep will take you to stunning sights and viewpoints, past towering cliffs of weathered stone and desert animals. After lunch at a local restaurant, head to the Allenby Bridge border crossing, and by late evening arrive back in Jerusalem.

Petra, Jerash and Amman: 2-Day Tour from Jerusalem

2. Petra, Jerash and Amman: 2-Day Tour from Jerusalem

This 2-day Jordan tour leaves from Jerusalem and includes visits to the incredible cities of Jerash and Amman, as well as Petra. Authentic meals, an overnight stay with local Bedouins and a full day in Petra are all part of the package. Depart Jerusalem in the morning on a drive up the Israeli side of the Jordan Valley. Enjoy views of the stunning landscapes and then cross the border at the Sheikh Hussein Bridge in the north. You’ll have spectacular views of northern Jordan before arriving at the ancient city of Jerash, an incredibly well-preserved Roman city featuring colonnaded streets, baths, theaters, temples and a hippodrome. See a striking blend of Eastern and Western architectural traditions. Your next stop is Jordan’s capital city of Amman. Visit both the modern downtown area of the city, now the economic, political and cultural center of Jordan, and also the old Citadel above the city. At the Citadel, you’ll see the Temple of Hercules and historic palaces, and have excellent views of the modern city. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant, and try some sweet kanafeh for dessert. After lunch, you’ll continue south to the desert, where you’ll spend the night in a Bedouin camp. The Bedouins, nomadic inhabitants of the desert, have lived in the region for thousands of years. Experience Bedouin hospitality as they share their tasty meals and comfortable tents with the group. The second day is devoted to Petra. You’ll stand in awe at Petra, one of the New7Wonders of the World, poetically described as a rose-red city half the age of time. Carved into the red rocks of the desert cliffs thousands of years ago by the ancient Nabatean people, Petra was hidden under sand for centuries before recently being made accessible again. Your guide will take you to see the iconic Treasury, the amphitheater, the royal tombs, the monastery and much more, before you return to Jerusalem via the Allenby crossing. This is a fully guided tour, with transportation to all sites and an extensive informational travel app for smartphones and tablets that provides additional information about each of the sites you visit. It also contains useful information about border crossings. The app, with maps, information and pictures, can be downloaded before you set out, and doesn’t require an internet connection. You can download the Abraham Tours app for free from the operator’s website.

From Amman: Petra, Wadi Rum & Dead Sea 3-Day Tour

3. From Amman: Petra, Wadi Rum & Dead Sea 3-Day Tour

Day 1: Petra Begin your tour with pickup from your hotel in Amman and head towards Petra. This magnificent UNESCO-listed heritage site is one of Jordan’s greatest treasures. First, walk through a beautiful narrow pathway, known as Al-Siq which serves as the main entrance to the main city of Petra. Then, lay your eyes on the Al-Khazneh Treasury which is carved deep into the rocks of one side of the mountain and is intricately decorated with Corinthian capitals, friezes, and figures. After lunch in Petra, set off to see other monuments such as the Monastery, the Altar of Sacrifice, Street of Facades, Royal Tombs, and the Roman Theatre. Relax during your overnight stay there. Day 2: Wadi Rum The next day, enjoy some free time to wander around before setting off through the peaceful desert landscape towards Wadi Rum. Marvel as extraordinary mountains begin to rise from the pink desert sand. When you arrive, experience the extraordinary beauty of Wadi Rum as you hike and trundle through the narrow gorges and desert plains past the natural rock bridges and towers. This impressive site is where movies like The Martian, Lawrence of Arabia, Theeb, and many others were filmed.  Then, take a Jeep safari with a local Bedouin driver. Explore several sites such as the Nabatean Temple, the Map of Wadi Rum, the Little Bridge, and the Red Sand Dune. Next, have the chance for a camel ride across the desert (at your own expense). Stop at a Bedouin camp and enjoy drinking Arabic tea or coffee as you mingle with the locals. Finally, enjoy the breathtaking view of the sunset across the silky desert plains. Later that night, gaze at the starlit sky in a cozy relaxation area around the tents. Day 3: Dead Sea On your final morning, reconvene with your group and head to the Dead Sea where you can rejuvenate your body and replenish your soul. Standing at around 400 m below sea level, the Dead Sea is the lowest point on earth’s surface. Leave all your worries behind with the services in the resort, including pools, restaurants, bars, play area, gym, and a spa. Take a stroll along the shore, feel the prickles of salt as you swim and float effortlessly on the mineral-rich water. At the end of the journey, visit a local shop to buy beauty and skin-care products made from local mud, salt and minerals. Afterward, head back to your hotel in Amman.

What people are saying about Ma'an Governorate

Thank you Abraham Tours for our Jordan 3 day trip. We have loved the experience and certainly Petra exceeded our expectations. What an amazing place! Pictures do not do it justice. Wadi Rum is just spectacular and we are now left with memories that will be cherished forever. Our tour guide, Abdullah was friendly and very knowledgeable. Food was great and coach very comfortable. Bedouin camp standards are basic and if you are not a frequent camper you might struggle with basic facilities. There was no heaters provided in tents and during winter season this should be a standard in each tent. No hot water in the morning... No hooks or shelves to put your things on when taking a shower resulted in personal belongings getting wet. Nevertheless, Jordan is an amazing country and I would highly recommend taking this tour but pay for a hotel upgrade if you do mind basic camping standard.

This was a fantastic tour! Our guide, Rania, was very knowledgeable about every site we saw, and our driver, Mustafa, was friendly and efficient. The Bedouin camp was amazing, and the lunches we stopped for were also excellent. The only thing I would note is that you need to have 107 NIS for the Israeli exit fee and at least 60 Jordanian dinars (or US equivalent)—there is no ATM at the border as some people on our tour were told.

The experience was amazing, tour was very well organized and the Jordanian guide (Mahdi) was outstanding! Highly recommended.

I recommend this tour 100% !! Everything was perfect and our guide was incredible ! a MUST

Very well organized tour. The guide was very friendly and always helpful.
