3 of us friends selected the guided walking tour of 2 hours and our guide was Jorge. Being a Sunday, it took us some time for us to reach the Old City. But Jorge was sweet enough to extend the 2hrs to 4hrs so that we still could have a fair amount of time to enjoy the tour. Jorge is informative and respectful and friendly. We thoroughly enjoyed his company. There was a lot of cultural knowledge exchange happening. And he patiently answered all our questions. It's obvious that he has a passion for history and he genuinely loves his work. Will definitely recommend him as a guide.
This is a nice general tour. You learn a little bit about Lyon's local food and local history and see sights in Old Town like the church, some important squares and a couple of passageways. Our guide Vincent spoke great English. We chose to go on a Sunday morning in August to avoid crowds and that worked out well. There was just enough walking, eating, drinking and learning over the course of three hours, it was a nice pace.
Walking around Lyon and its spectacular sites with Virginie was a great experience, specially as she is very fluent in Spanish. She organized a three hour tour for us pucking us up at our hotel. It was an interesting experience meeting a lyonesse professor who could tell us every day facts about her city. She was also a great translator for the wonderful ceramic we bought in the old quartier.
Vincent was engaging and knowledgeable about the area and had deep history of Lyonese cusine. We broke break at a renowned boulangerie, tasted praline, some of the best charcuterie and the wine flowed generously. We got see the historic parts of and explore some areas we would have definitely not found on our own. Great experience.
I enjoyed this tour because of the experience with my guide. These are informal tours that would be like walking around with a friend vs walking with a historically knowledgeable tour guide. He gave me a good overview of the city so I could steer myself around later As well as tips of places to eat
