Lyngen Alps

Based in Lyngen near Tromsø, visit Camp Troll and experience a day of exploration, excitement, and fun on a snowmobile safari. Ride your own snowmobile beneath giant mountains and learn how these spectacular summits inspired Norwegian Folklore. Depart from Tromsø city center by bus which will take you to Breivikeidet where you’ll board the ferry as a foot passenger (included). Get met on the other side at Svensby for further transport. On arrival at base camp, get welcomed by your guide and listen as they detail practical Instructions on how to handle a snowmobile. Watch a safety demonstration and then get changed before heading out. Drive your snowmobile in pairs (one driver and one passenger) and get the opportunity to switch drivers at the halfway point. Travel deep into nature whilst exploring the mythical world of trolls on a scenic trail through the Lyngen Alps. Enjoy time in the beautiful scenery and take pictures, keeping an eye out for the magical trolls you’ll be learning about. Later, head back to the base camp to enjoy a hot meal served around the fire before you depart. With a full stomach, return to the ferry after your tour, where you will return to Tromsø.

Enjoy a nice and quiet Snowmobile safari surrounded by the beautiful fjords and mountains of the Lyngen Alps. The local provider will pick you up in Tromso at 8:50 AM, outside Scandic Ishavshotel and drive you to the Green Gold Villa in the Lyngen Alps.  Upon arrival, you’ll get warm clothes and a short training. Then, jump on snowmobiles and drive along Fjords and Mountains for 2 hours. Next, you’ll get a warm expedition meal, and finally start the panoramic drive back to Tromso where you’ll arrive at 4:00 PM.  You’ll need to be in fairly good physical shape and have a regular car driver's license to join this excursion. Meet reindeer and see a Sámi camp with this tour from Tromsø. Try reindeer sledding and enjoy a hearty Sámi lunch. Be picked up from the meeting point and take a scenic drive to the camp at Breivikeidet. Be greeted by your Sámi guide who will take you meet the reindeer that will take you on a sledding tour. Revel in the glory of the Lyngen Alps and the beautiful nature as you ride. Breathe in the crisp arctic air. Warm up with some tea, coffee, and Bithos (a traditional Sami dish that is served for finer meals like celebrations). After lunch, learn more about Sámi life, culture, and clothing. Meet your guide at Scandic Ishavshotel then hop-on the bus to Breivikeidet. Board a ferry to Svensby and then head straight to the Distillery. Visit a state of the art and atmospheric Viking inspired cask storage, where you can learn about the mythology and science behind the whisky brand Bivrost. This unique tour includes complimentary tastings, transfers and lunch, with time to relax in the visitor's centre enjoying the panoramic views of the Lyngen Alps and fjord. Afterwards, your guide will escort you back on the ferry.
