Full description

Embark on a hop-on-hop-off day tour and discover the history of Luxembourg, from the Middle Ages to the modern age, aboard a modern convertible bus. See the eastern region, the Mullerthal, with its charming waterfall and walking trail, admire the medieval Castle in Vianden and visit Echternach, the country's oldest town. Program of the day:

1. Mullerthal trail and Schiessentümpel:

View the Schiessentümpel waterfall with its three water jets on the Black Ernz. Snap pictures at the most photographed site in the region, Luxembourg's Little Switzerland as we like to call it. Start a 45-minutes walking tour.

2. Beaufort

Enjoy a 10-minute stop in order to take some photos and admire the vast forests. There is a Renaissance castle, impressive ruins of the 12th-century castle, and a Neo-gothic church.

3. Vianden Castle

Explore the north of Luxembourg, a region full of steep valleys and breathtaking views. Discover the medieval town of Vianden and its imposing castle which attracts thousands of visitors annually. Admire the imposing castle that overlooks the town, the town wall with its fortified towers, and the town's chairlift.

During this stop, you have 2.5 hours of free time to plan for yourself. We recommend that you bring a snack or a sandwich if you don't want to waste time in a restaurant. Otherwise, the time of the visit might be too short.

4. The old town in Echternach:

The city of Echternach, the historical and cultural center of the region, was founded in 698 by the Benedictine Monk Willibrord and is the oldest town in Luxembourg. Admire the most beautiful places and buildings, like the St. Willibrord Basilica, the Abbey, and the market square, during a 45-minute visit. After the visit to Echternach, you will return to your original starting point at Boulevard de la Pétrusse in Luxembourg City.

This was an overall good day with information about Luxembourg history, geography and geology.. We had a nice walk along the river (although quite short) & a walk on the town close to the border with Germany and we had self guided tours of the castles . For me this worked well as I prefer to see the places on my own rhythm and we have been given materials to help us understand the places we were visiting. The guides on both places were very nice, well prepared and they have both accommodated everyone's requests or needs. The minibus was clean and modern, but the seats were a bit tight and this was a discomfort during the trip. Also - the audio guide that was delivered in the minibus was not always working. You need to manage by yourself how to select the right language cannel as the driver was not speaking English and there was no guide available in between locations. Overall a good experience, but can be improved !

The friendly, knowledgeable guide provided a great time hiking around the region. We saw beautiful nature, trees and waterfalls in the area. My only wish was to spend more time in the hiking area because there was more which we didn't get to see- but had a good time none the less.

meetup point is easy to find just follow pin location. you ride a top down convertible mini bus with a driver that cant speak english, but she has signs for you to read. she drops us off to locations which you will meet the guide for each site. all the drop off sites in this package is very nice. 1 big hiccup is the dropoff for the vianden castle, we got off at a parking lot. 1.2km away, uphill to the castle, this is perfect for you to explore the town on your way to the castle. but to also have to walk back to the bus, have your own lunch, all this without a guide, and you have to finish in 2 hours. a participant wasn't able to have lunch. a group was 15mins late. the bus should have dropped us off near the castle, and its easier to walk downhill exploring the town to the parking. we would have more time to enjoy this beautiful town.
