What an easy, fun, and informative way to enjoy Sintra. Our tour guide, Miguel, was very charming — he had lots of insightful commentary and helpful tips to share. We enjoyed that the tour group was small, so we could have plenty of conversation with Miguel. The whole day went very smoothly, we managed to avoid the larger crowds and lines. We would definitely recommend this tour. The one critique would be that Miguel’s air conditioning wasn’t working — hopefully that gets fixed before the summer weather starts!

Miguel was the best guide ever! He was very knowledgeable about the places we visited and was very animated in his story telling. Never a dull moment. Despite many visitors and long lines, Miguel came prepared. So we did not waste much time standing in line. If you are visiting Sintra for the first time, it is better to limit the visit to a few places, rather than hitting many places but only on the surface. For this tour, we were able to visit Regaleira and even go down the Well. It wasn't rushed and truly got to appreciate the beauty of the place.

This day tour had the potential to be great. The Sintra palaces sell themselves because they are so beautiful. On our tour, our guide was trying his best to accommodate two tours simultaneously- one in English and one in Spanish. Despite his best efforts, it made for a clunky tour. I don’t think either group felt they got the full experience as the it obviously takes much longer to do the tour twice while still keeping to a regular schedule. I think it’s unreasonable for the company to ask this of its guides. The tour advertised a choice of visiting the exterior of Peña Palace or visiting the interior. Only two people chose to go inside the palace and the guide went with them though the majority (6 other people) explored the grounds independently. Later the guide accompanied those same two people to a restaurant out of town for lunch. The 6 of us weren’t invited and were left on our own in town. It felt like we were intruding on the Spanish-speaking people’s private tour.
