The Archipelago of the Aeolian Islands consists of seven exquisite islands off the coast of Sicily - Lipari, Panarea, Vulcano, Stromboli, Salina, Alicudi, and Filicudi - in addition to smaller islets and giant boulders. They all emerge from an uncontaminated sea, created by still-active volcanoes (Stromboli and Vulcano), and blessed by a savage beauty. The Islands, the destination for tens of thousands of tourists annually, are part of the Province of Messina. Departing from Milazzo, sail to Vulcano and stop for 4 hours on the white and black beaches and climb the crater of Vulcano. Then depart from Vulcano to Panarea, the smallest of the islands. 9. Filicudi and Alicudi boat tour from Lipari

Filicudi has the clearest sea in the archipelago and also offers a rugged coastline full of caves and rock formations. Alicudi, on the other hand, looks like a huge cone with the characteristic little houses attached all around the walls. You'll leave Lipari to sail off the promontory of Capo Graziano, on the island of Filicudi . Here you will notice that the sea of these two remote islands is definitely the most pristine and crystal clear of the whole archipelago. Continuing the navigation you will reach the famous Grotta del Bue Marino, the largest and most beautiful cave of the Aeolian Islands. Leaving Filicudi you will sail to the small port of Alicudi to visit freely the small village, where you can take a bath and find a typical restaurant for lunch. The main street of Alicudi is a stone mule track that climbs to the top of the island and the only means of transport is the donkey. Be sure to hike up to the church, plaza and viewpoints at the top of the hill when you get to the town on Lipari island. One takes the right road off the plaza after one gets off the boat rather than the left one which takes one to a fairly uninteresting tourist street. It is quite an adventure up on top of the hill. There are also a few archaeological museums up there. However, we were happy just walking around and exploring and looking at the views over the cliffs. On the island of Volcano we just crossed the island which is about 150 m across, went to the beach on the right side of the road and rented two reclining chairs with an umbrella. They had change rooms which were nice. The water was absolutely delightful. It is definitely worth the five euros per person to rent the reclining chairs and umbrella. So the fun and excitement of exploring a very old town is complemented by a relaxing time swimming at the beach.

Nice trip for tourists who z. B. live on Lipari and want to see other islands. On Stroboli it's nice to walk up to the church and then walk down the back through the village until you're down on the beach again. In this area of the village is also the house where the film "Stromboli" (1949) starring Ingrid Bergman was shot. It makes sense to take a sweater with you for the return trip. In September it can get a bit chilly in the evenings on the sea.

Better boat trip than expected as made a circuit around Volcano and pulled in very close to give everyone a great view of coastal rock features. Ran well to time and provides enough time to look around the centre of Lipari and then have beach time / snorkel on Volcano.

Visiting 3 islands and seeing from close real time eruptions of the volcano Stromboli. Great! Improvement points: you cannot pay by card on the boat so take cash. Also, the italian guide did not speak proper english and we did not understand the explanations

lovely day island hopping. lots of free time on islands
