Lima Discovery Walking Tour with a Local

1. Lima Discovery Walking Tour with a Local

Get your hands on the blueprint to modern Peruvian life on this Lima tour that puts you in the shoes of locals. Admire the colonial balconies, hit the local market and see the great variety of fruits and vegetables reflecting the rich biodiversity of Perú and finish with the national drink, the Pisco Sour! You’ll start the tour by taking the local bus to downtown, just as the locals do, and along the way, you’ll learn a few words of Spanish – something that will come in handy for the rest of your Lima travel experience! Once we’re downtown, your walking tour will begin with a stroll along Jirón de la Union, a pedestrian avenue linking Plaza San Martin to Plaza de Armas. Along the way, your local guide will be pointing out the sights along this street, from the hidden gems to the Lima’s classic tales. Your walk continues towards the most well-known tourist area in the city, Plaza de Armas, located in the heart of the old town, home of the Government Palace, Archbishop´s Palace and the Cathedral. Next on this Lima city tour, you’ll go to the colourful Central Market. With your local guide, you’ll navigate your way through all the various stalls, checking out the fresh produce and learning about the eating habits of the locals.  Then you will visit the breath taking Basilica of San Pedro, administrated by the Jesuits named after San Pablo, a building so rich in history that it was named a UNESCO World Heritage site back in 1991.  This Lima tour will come to an end here, where you can continue on your own exploration of the city, or your local guide will be able to point you in the direction of your accommodation.

Execellent value for a 4 hour walking tour.

The Discover Lima Walking Tour, through Urban Adventures Americans was an excellent value. Coming from San Isdro, The meeting point Hotel Bolivar Plaza San Martin was an easy land mark to find by taxi. Our guide Teresa was outstanding. She was there early and we were fortunate to be the only two on the tour. Teresa’s English was impeccable. She was extremely knowledgeable about the architecture and history of City Central Lima. The tour was well paced and a lot of fun. Teresa being a native of Lima, we felt like we had a personal friend to show us the culture and daily lives of the residents of Lima. Teresa gave us recommendations of fruits and drinks to try at the market, and gave us a list of must try menu items when we are at a restaurant. At the end of tour Teresa was kind enough to secure us a taxi, negoting the price to Mirafores. We would definitely recommend this tour.

This was one of the best tours I have ever been on. Paula was amazing- knowledgeable, funny and extremely helpful. The tour was interesting and very well planned. There were so many fascinating sights and stories - time was flying. Ending the tour with a Pisco Sour was a really fun idea, too. Thank you, Paula, I had a great day, you are the best. I highly recommend this tour. Have fun!

Price-performance perfect!

Our tour guide was really good. She knew a lot and took the time to answer questions. We only had a very small group of 3 people which made the tour very enjoyable. She also spoke good English and it was just fun to get to know the city center of Lima. I can only recommend it.

Our guide, Paula, was professional, personable, prompt, perfectly knowledgeable, protective of our safety and comfort, and particularly focused on individualizing our experience. Our tour was everything we expected and more!

Our guide was awesome! Very knowledgeable and laid back. This was a great way to see the highlights of Lima in one afternoon!
