Riviera Maya: Rio Lagartos & Las Coloradas Day Trip w/Lunch

3. Riviera Maya: Rio Lagartos & Las Coloradas Day Trip w/Lunch

Rio Lagartos is a small fishing village in a Nature Reserve; one of the natural treasures of the Yucatan Peninsula. Here we can enjoy a boat tour through its water canals surrounded by mangroves, where you can observe a variety of species of birds such as pink flamingos, herons, eagles, seagulls, pelicans, and cormorants. During the tour, we pass under the bridge of Las Coloradas to get to the salt deposits where we see different bodies of water involved in this process, some of which an eye-catching pink. Following, we will rejoice in the Mayan Bath, covering the body in nutrient-rich clay. Next, we’ll be heading to an unspoiled beach to remove the clay in the crystal water, where we will enjoy ourselves with the tasty local fish-and-shellfish-based food. Before getting on the bus, we will visit a spring of water surrounded by mangroves towering up to 25 meters and authentic local crocodiles. On our way back, our last stop will be on one of the greatest cenotes of the zone. Located within a cattle ranch, as is customary in the Ruta del Flamingo, we will swim and relax in this one-of-a-kind place: the cherry on top of the cake.

It was a very nice & unforgettable tour! Our guide Genaro was great! He tried to get the best out of the (unfortunately) very long drive. Very entertaining and great music! We were well taken care of with drinks, sandwiches & biscuits! Lunch was delicious too! We looked at the Pink Lake from Las Colorados, did a very cool boat tour, could go swimming if we wanted to & at the end we went to a "crocodile farm", where the crocodiles were literally brought closer to us, just great!

One of the best tours of my vacation! Our tour guide was knowledgeable and friendly. He even took my photos as I was traveling alone. The experience felt more personal because I wasn’t cramped in a bus like other tours. The drive was respectful and kind- he was efficient that we got there before the big groups. The food was also great- they have some options so as pescatarian I was very happy. Thanks for such an amazing day!

This is a very well organized tour. The pink lake is something you have to see to believe! But I suspect if it is a rainy day it will not be as pink as a sunny day. If you can not find your desired date online, you can ask local agents when you are in Cancun to see if there are other dates available.

very nice tour. It is long in the bus but it is very comfortable and pleasant tour leaders. Definitely one to never forget. Good lunch various choice.

Excellent tour!!! And the food at Los Negritos restaurant in Río Lagartos was delicious.
