Trekking skiing, also called back-country skiing or off-piste skiing, is a great way to explore remote areas of Lapland covered in deep snow. Unlike alpine skiing and cross-country skiing which are practiced on groomed trails, back-country skiing allows for a more adventurous trip through hilly terrains, forests, and lakes. As the skis are equipped with a skin, they allow you to go both uphill and downhill without excessive speed. Like snowshoeing, it does not require much practice to get used to the gears and to the techniques to slide on deep snow. This makes it very comfortable and easy to use, even for beginners. Your guide chooses a location that best fits the level and the needs of the group, before providing you with safety instructions and teaching you some techniques on how to use the skis on fresh snow. Refreshments and a typical Finnish barbecue snack will be provided halfway, as your guide lights a fire to keep you warm. This is a great moment for you to enjoy the splendid viewpoints and learn more about both Arctic nature and Lapland in general. At the conclusion of your 3-hour experience, your guide returns you to your tour starting point in Rovaniemi.

What people are saying about Lapland

We had a fabulous time on our tour. The tour guide was very knowledgeable, the bus driver was very good. Even on the snowy, iced up roads that day I always felt safe with his driving. The boat was great, smooth, the tour and meeting the captain was fun. Floating in the life saving suits was awesome, what an experience! Lunch buffet was very good, nice choice of dishes. The entire tour was very organized, fun and an unique experience.

The cruise was a fantastic experience! Very well organized, we are impressed. It's nice that you can buy a line with photos from swimming, a very positive surprise. The only minus point that the organizers should think about is that they should distribute the certificates of the cruise with the name and surname printed on it. We would love to repeat this great attraction. WE RECOMMEND !!!

Fabulous experience - transport was good. Icebreaker and swimming a once in a lifetime opportunity and all brilliant . Scenery beautiful. The lunch at the Swedish restaurant was traditional and delicious in beautiful riverfront setting, positioned on the Swedish side of the river looking into Finland. Everything about the day was fantastic

First of all, thanks to our guide named SHIARCA (but I'm not sure if you write it like this) for his kindness, patience, professionalism and SMILE, then everything else is wonderful (of course if you paid a little less it would be even more beautiful)

Unique and perfectly organized experience. Highly recommended!
