After a pickup from your accommodation, embark on your Northern Lights discovery tour starting from Santa Claus Village, Rovaniemi. You will be taken into different areas by your guide-driver, who will make sure to find the best locations to view the Northern Lights. This region of the Arctic Circle offers some of the highest levels of Northern Lights activity on Earth. Along the way, you will also get to enjoy the breathtaking Lapland landscapes and magical snowy fields. If you are lucky and the sky is clear, you might see the flaming Northern Lights dancing in the sky as you experience the tranquility of the Arctic night.

Drive away from the city to the place with the highest chance of seeing the Northern Lights. Find a warm spot to set up the fire and sit and wait for the show. Benefit from knowing that the more time you spend outside, the greater the chance of you seeing the lights. Usually, you can view the Aurora in the middle of a huge frozen lake or river.  Embark on an experience visiting up to 3 locations to give you the best chance of seeing the lights. Huddle around the fire with your guide, who will also tell you all about traditional animals and customs.

Warm up by the campfire as you look to the sky and enjoy grilled sausages with warm drinks. Drive your very own snowmobile through the snow-covered landscapes as you’re led by your guide. Experience a special kind of snowmobile adventure in the nearly unlit nature, where only moonlight, stars, and snowmobile light systems will light your way. In the middle of the wilderness, stop to look to the sky as you are surrounded by forests and lakes that are rising like mysterious shadows towards the night sky. Enjoy an open fire prepared by your guide so you can warm up and enjoy warm refreshments and grill sausages. If you are lucky and the sky is clear, you might get to see the flaming northern lights dancing above.

Your special morning shuttle will depart from your hotel and head to Posio’s virgin forest area, 160 kilometers from Rovaniemi. Korouoma is a 1-million year old fracture valley in the bedrock, and at the center of the valley it forms a magnificent gorge that drops over 100 meters below its surrounding terrain. Thick snow accumulates in the trees of the forest making the forest appear completely dreamy and blurred. Amazing photos of the ice and snow can be taken absolutely everywhere. Professional guides will escort you into the forest. In the middle of your hike, your guide will make a bonfire for you and you can experience the traditional cuisine of the Arctic Circle. Korouoma is known for its magnificent frozen waterfalls that cover the tall cliffs in the winter. There are altogether 14 frozen waterfalls along the Korouoma hiking trail. Korouma is hands-down the best destination for ice climbing in Finland!

Be picked up at your accommodation and start the journey to Ranua Wildlife Park. The 1-hour drive will take you through Lapland, where you’ll be able to spot wildlife along the way. It’s not unusual to see reindeer or the gigantic moose along the road. As you head to your destination, your guide will answer any questions that you may have about Finland and Lapland to the best of their knowledge. At the park, follow the 2.5 km long wooden boardwalks through the forest and spot different arctic animals in one place. This is a rare opportunity to meet the local animals that reside in Lapland and other parts of the Arctic. As you walk around the park, your guide will share with you their knowledge of the animals and other aspects of life in Lapland. You’ll spot a variety of animals in the Ranua Wildlife Park. Keep an eye out for polar bears, predatory birds, owls, wild boars, musk oxen, otters, arctic foxes, wolves, wild reindeer, wolverines, and moose. When they’re not hibernating in the wintertime, you might even see brown bears. At the end of the tour, you will enjoy a tasty buffet lunch at the restaurant before returning to Rovaniemi.

Begin with a team meeting about the tour of the day then get a short briefing about current weather conditions, aurora forecasts, and your destination of the day. The focus of this tour is the Rovaniemi area and you will travel by minivan. After reaching the destination you will leave the minivan and continue on foot to reach the perfect spots in the middle of nature. In the destination, your guide, a professional photographer, helps you prepare your cameras for Northern Lights photography and get ready for the show of a lifetime. Northern Lights are always unpredictable and there is no guarantee that they will be found every night. However, this tour gives you the best possible chance to experience and photograph these mystical wonders of the Arctic area. During the night you are a member of an exclusive team led by a professional photography guide. Simply put, you will join real aurora hunters who rely on the following to succeed in their mission: • background research into local weather and Aurora forecasts • live information feed coming directly into the minivan •local knowledge of all the best viewing spots •willingness to go the extra mile, or a hundred miles, to find the aurora During the night, you will normally visit two to three different locations, which are always chosen according to local weather conditions and photograph opportunities. This means that if the sky is clear and there is a possibility to see the aurora 100 kilometers away, we will take the chance and drive you there. Altogether there are over 50 locations from which to choose the best ones each night. 

Combine the two biggest favorites of Lapland – Aurora hunting and huskies! One of the best ways to spot the magical Autumn Northern Lights is with our furry husky friends. Because of the remote location of our Resort, there's no light pollution in the area, which is good for seeing the Northern Lights. First, you'll meet the husky musher and friendly husky dogs and get to know them before heading to nature. The 4 km long husky trail is ridden with the carriage for 6 people, so the small group is guaranteed. The husky guide is driving the carriage, and you can just enjoy the excitement of the Aurora hunt and the husky ride at the same time. If you are lucky enough, you'll see Aurora arches on the horizon or even the lights dancing all over the sky. During the adventure, we stop to enjoy hot drinks by the campfire and listen to stories about the life of sled dogs and the Northern Lights.

Following a pickup from your hotel in Rovaniemi, depart to Vikaköngäs at the southern end of the village of Vikajärvi a short distance from the city. At the Vaattunkivaara Nature Trail, part of the Arctic Circle Hiking Area, your professional guide will lead you to the most interesting natural sites in the area.  Feel the beauty of Lappish forests and lakes during a short walk of around 1-2km. During the hike, you’ll travel through natural forests and rocky gorges surrounded by beautiful lakes and rivers. Your guide will tell you more about the hiking area with its huge variety of long and short distance trails, located next to urban habitation.  Along the way, stop to enjoy a BBQ with blueberry juice and sausages in a traditional kota hut with stunning views of the Lappish nature all around. At the conclusion of your hike and BBQ, return to Rovaniemi for a drop-off back at your hotel.
