1. From Puerto Maldonado: Tambopata 3-Day Trip
Escape into nature at Tambopata on a 3-day trip. See different birds, monkeys, and insects as you follow your guide through jungle trails and have the chance to swim in Lake Sandoval. Day 1: Puerto Maldonado to Tambopata with Monkey Island visit Your trip begins with a morning pickup from the airport or your hotel in Puerto Maldonado. Be taken to the local partner's office to drop off any luggage you prefer not to take with. Afterward, head off to the port to board a boat. The boat ride takes you downstream on the Madre de Dios River to your hostel. After getting settled in your room, accompany your guide and walk through the trails of the hostel to see the flora and fauna found in the area. After lunch, hop on a boat to reach Monkey Island, Here, have the chance to see 5 different species of monkeys that inhabit the island. At sunset go to the lodge to observe alligators with the help of flashlights. Watch the red-eyed alligators as your guide tells you facts about them. Return to the hostel lodge for the rest of the evening. Day 2: Tambopata and Lake Sandoval Spend the day visiting Lake Sandoval. Reach the lake by boat and enter the Tambopata National Reserve. Take a canoe and row through the lake, home to many birds and animals such as parrots and macaws. At noon break for lunch at a restaurant on Lake Sandoval. After lunch those who wish can safely swim in the lake. Return to the lodge, have dinner and enjoy a night walk to see animals and insects that only come out when dark. Spend your last night in a shelter and build a bonfire to conclude your trip. Day 3: Tambopata to Puerto Maldonado After breakfast, head back to Puerto Maldonado where a tuk tuk will drop you off at the bus station or airport.
