Stonehenge Private Sunset Tour with Lacock and Bath

1. Stonehenge Private Sunset Tour with Lacock and Bath

After arriving at the meeting point, head directly to the city of Bath, one of England’s most historic and visited cities, and itself a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Take in some of the impressive sights of this attractive and historic city as you walk through its picturesque streets. Visit the remarkable ancient Roman Baths, and the Georgian Grand Pump Room. An optional walking tour allows you to see where writer Charles Dickens once lived and worked, and to sample some of the delicious local cheeses. From there continue to the village of Lacock, another historic site dating back to Saxon times. This scenic village has been the site of several major films and productions, with parts of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice, and Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone filmed here. Take your time to look around the village, before stopping for an early evening meal in one of England’s oldest pubs, The George Inn, built in 1361. Leave Lacock and head towards Stonehenge as the sun sets, giving you a dramatic view of this incredible monument. Enjoy these jaw-dropping monoliths with a unique viewing experience that guarantees direct access to the stones, unavailable to members of the general public. Your guide will discuss the history of this 5,000 year old site, the most famous prehistoric monument in the world, and explain the many mysterious theories about how exactly it was built. Away from the crowds, marvel at this ancient construction and see for yourself why it is one of the most visited sites in the world, before boarding your coach and returning to London.

We had the afternoon tour, starting at 11.10. We were a group of 40 people. We arrived in Bath around 13H30. The ruins of the roman bath were much bigger than I expected and the visit was great. I loved the atmosphere in Bath - I will come back some day. We continued towards Stonehenge and arrived there around 16H30. We had the site for ourselves, and the visit of the monument, with an archeologist answering all our questions, was without any doubt the highlight of the tour. We arrived in Lacock at around 18H45, had dinner there, had a free visit of Lacock, and left at 20H to head back to London. Check your bill in the pub in Lacock before paying, as they tried to make us pay more than the fixed price of 12 pounds per meal. If you are fan of Harry Potter, I would suggest you take a morning tour, which will give you the opportunity to skip lunch and visit the abbey (it was closed when we arrived). Our guide, Carol, was great! Very knowledgeable and helpful. All in all a great tour!

This tour was definitely worth the time and money. Our guide Leon was knowledgeable and funny and driver Richard got us everywhere safely and on time. The first stop in Bath was delightful, though getting the full experience of the Roman bath and a good visit to the village is not possible. The pub in Lacock served a delicious meal. The highlight, of course, was the inner circle tour of Stonehenge. Paying for the inner circle tour was definitely worth the price. It rained during our tour, but that only added to the experience. Chris at Stonehenge is a delightful storyteller.

We went on this tour with our teen daughter and we all loved it. Peter is fantastic! Can’t say enough good things about him. He’s has so much knowledge to share about Stonehenge, Bath, and Lacock, as well as London and England overall. Also worth mentioning, he’s very funny! Our driver Jermaine did a great job too and drove safely for 12 hours. We would definitely recommend this tour! It’s worth the extra money for the inside Stonehenge experience and Bath is a beautiful city.
