We enjoyed the rapelling and rafting excursions. We rapelled in the cool, refreshing water of the canyon. Be warned that there are slippery rocks so hiking sandals with good traction are a must. Also, the hike back up was steep, so you must be moderately fit and healthy. The good thing was that there were stepping stones. The Balsa River rafting tour was exhilarating; there were plenty of class 2 & 3 rapids which made it exciting. Just when you thought you can let your guard down, the river starts boiling and rumbling again. We were able to clean off the river water in 4 outdoor showers (cold water only) and there were a few private changing rooms. At the end of our adventure, a generous plate of casada (black beans and rice) with veggies, yucca, two pieces of braised chicken and relish was served to us. We also got a chance to sample shots of moonshine and see how brown sugar was made from harvested sugar cane. We had a great time. Highly recommended.
The crew was great. Both activities were on time. Very safe and fun. We had seniors on our group so it goes to show that anyone can enjoy these activities. We were having a blast joking around with the staff. They went out of their way to stop on a side of the road shop to allow my group to get snacks or food. Since they allowed the pit stop we had already made on the way there, we treated the entire crew with fresh coconuts and fruits for accommodating our request. Great people, great experience, safe, and definitely worth your buck.
We got picked up at our hostel in San Jose, when we arrived we got a safety lesson and supplies then hit the river. All the tour guides were great, they made us feel safe and we had a blast! We stopped for a great lunch then headed to our hostel in La Fortuna. Highly recommend, especially because we didn’t waste a travel day!
Great experience! I went with my daughter and I am actually terrified of heights. The guides were so patient, kind, experienced and professional. I was able to do all the lines with my daughter with their help. Our driver was on time and very professional and informative. Definitely recommend! Definitely would do it again!
This tour was outstanding. The guides were great, the Pacuare is beautiful, and the challenge/exertion level was just right for me (a mid-30s first-time rafter who's in reasonably-good shape). This was my first activity after arriving in San Jose and it was a great welcome to Costa Rica.
