1. L'Aquila of the Mysteries: 3-Hour Walking Tour
Enjoy a guided walking tour of L’Aquila’s historic center. Although the city suffered severe damage from the earthquake of 2009 you’ll still see the splendor of the Baroque and Renaissance architecture of this ancient city built on a hill. On this 3-hour tour you’ll learn about the mysterious foundations of the town, with a mix of history and legend, Knights Templar, and figures such as Frederick II and Pope Celestino V. Start out at the mysterious Fountain of the 99 Spouts, and then head to the Basilica di Santa Maria di Collemaggio. Reach the highest point in L’Aquila at the Spanish Fort, and stop to admire the views. From the Fort you’ll continue walking through the Piazza Palazzo, Piazza Duomo, and to the Basilica di San Bernardino.
