Experience the ghost town of Chernobyl and learn about the infamous disaster with this unique 2-day group tour. After meeting your guide in Kyiv and having your passport details checked, set off in comfortable vehicles with Wi-Fi and air conditioning. After traveling through the countryside for 2 hours, you will reach checkpoint Dytiatky, the main entrance to the exclusion zone. Following passport checks and radiation safety rules, your tour will start in earnest.   Drive through the eerie exclusion zone, where nature and wildlife have once more taken over. Keep your eyes open as your travel for foxes, wild boar, deer, moose, and even wolves. Stop in the village of Zalissya, with almost 700 abandoned and uninhabited houses. Continue on to Chernobyl, which is nowadays the busiest part of the zone. Almost 5,000 people work and live there in shifts. See infamous sites such as the statue of Lenin, the river port with sunken boats and the memorial ‘to those who saved the world’.   Following your first day of exploration, check into one of the hotels in Chernobyl town – but keep the 10:00 PM curfew in mind, as the hotel will be locked from this time. After a restful night, get ready for another day of discovery. If your group is interested, you might have the opportunity to visit and speak to local babushkas. Explore the military base, including the command center and secret bunker, full of soviet military propaganda.   After lunch, explore Prypiat in-depth as you visit the fire station, a collapsed school and a police station, with its holding cells and interrogation rooms! Then, it’s time to head back to civilization, once you’ve passed obligatory radiation control at the checkpoint. Sit back and take in the sights as you are transferred back to Kyiv.
