Depart Underberg in the morning and take in stunning views of the KwaZulu-Natal landscape as you make your way along the Sani Pass mountain road that connects to Mokhotlong in Lesotho. Stop to get breathtaking views from different locations, and at the South African Border Control and Lesotho Border Control posts. Climb to an altitude of 2,874 meters above sea level to enjoy lunch at the Sani Mountain Lodge – the highest pub in Africa. Continue to a village of the ethnic Basotho people and learn about Lesotho and its people from your experienced mountain guide. Hluhluwe Imfolozi Game Reserve set in the heart of Zululand where Africa’s Big 5 (Lion, Elephant, Leopard, Buffalo and Rhinoceros) roam the flourishing savannah. Established in 1895 this is the oldest park in South Africa and encompasses over 98000 hectares of beautiful African landscape. This tour is in a closed vehicle. The Park contains an immense diversity of fauna and flora and is characterised by hilly topography. The list of animals at the park is long and varied. Hluhluwe Game Reserve makes up the northern top half of the reserve which is renowned for its diverse variety of bird and animal life. South of Hluhluwe is the Imfolozi Game Reserve which makes up half of the park. These two reserves were joined together to create the largest reserve in KwaZulu Natal.

With eager anticipation the tour group departs from the starting point and heads up to the highest pass in South Africa, Sani Pass. Travel through Himeville to the World Heritage Site of the uKhahlamba Drakensberg Park, following the Mkomazana River up the scenic Sani Valley to the South African Border Post (border formalities) and the Lesotho Border. After the Lesotho border formalities at the top of Sani Pass, the group makes its way to a fully functional Basotho village to learn more about these humble people. Start with pickup from your accommodation at 7:00 PM or 8:00 PM and embark on a night drive safari at the iSimangaliso Wetland Park. Spend 3 hours in the park and try to spot a variety of nocturnal species who are more active at night. See nocturnal mammals such as bush babies and aardvarks. Go in search of the elusive leopard, who prefers to hunt at night. If you are lucky, witness a herd of elephants congregate in the beautiful glow of moonlight or hear the pounding of buffalo hooves as they gallop across the plains in darkness. Many of the species of the park tend to be bolder at night, so the chances of spotting rare species are higher on a night drive safari. Search for the animals with an expert guide. The tour was amazing! Our Tourguide was friendly, funny and really informative. he supplied a nice breakfast and later on a BBQ. he knew good spots to see lots of animals and even tried to get us to a spot with cheetahs as soon as he heard of it. we did a second tour with heritage in iSimangaliso and it was as good as this one. totally recommending it!

I think we had one of the best guides that ever existed. Martin knows exactly where to stop for the perfect photo's. Could answer all our questions. He kept us entertained with his knowledge of the area and has a wonderful personality. I would recommend him any day. Martin thank you for the wonderful experience

really amazing Trip! Our Tourguide Phindi was really nice and informative and supplied us with a really nice lunch, cold drinks and some wine. she drove to spot some hippos and gave us snorkelling masks and towels to have a swim at cape Vidal. totally would book it again
