Skip the ticket line at two truly unique sites and listen to interesting commentary through your audio guide. First stop is the Sedlec Ossuary, said to contain bones from 40,000 - 70,000 human skeletons. All are used in an artistic way to beautifully decorate the church's interior. One of the ossuary’s eye-catching features is an enormous chandelier, completely made out of bones. Then, take a short walk to visit another noteworthy place - the Cathedral of the Assumption of Our Lady and Saint John the Baptist. Listed as a UNESCO heritage site since 1995, the cathedral is a unique combination of Baroque and Gothic architecture. Walk around the church and even explore the cathedral’s attic, whilst listening to the audio guide that will explain more about the church's history.
Discover the mysteries of Kutná Hora and the Sedlec Ossuary alongside a professional local guide in monk costume. Begin your tour in the upper chapel of the Sedlec Ossuary. Learn about abandoned mines and wars — the tumultuous history that shaped Sedlec. Continue your tour downwards into the candlelit bowels of the Ossuary, decorated with the skeletons of between 40,000 and 70,000 people. Ascend once more into the light and visit the Church of the Assumption of Our Lady and Saint John the Baptist, built on the oldest Abby in the Czech lands, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Let organ music and the light of candles transport you to another time and place. End your tour with a visit to the Treasury Room where you can see the original 14th-century Monstrance of Sedlec.
