    According to your tour pickup time, meet with your guide and start your day. First, visit the House of Virgin Mary. Located 6 km to the north of the ruins of Ephesus, this church was built in 6C AD on top of the foundations of a house from 1C AD.

    Next check out Ephesus, an archeological treasure and the best preserved classical city in the Eastern Mediterranean. During 1C AD, Ephesus was the second largest city on the planet after Rome with more than 250.000 citizens.

    It was in the center of the known world and played the role of a gateway between the East and the West. With its giant harbor, it was also the center of trading in antiquity. It is also home to one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, the Temple of Artemis.

    Walking on the ancient streets among the beautiful monuments such as the third largest library of the ancient world or the largest roman theatre on the Asia continent gives you the feeling of a time traveler.

    After lunch, continue to the Temple of Artemis. Its ancient cult dedicated to Artemis was famous in antiquity and made Ephesus a much-visited pilgrimage place. At the end of the tour, head back to your hotel or the port.

    Expect stops to shop at a ceramic shop/jewelry shop, leather shop, and possibly a rug shop. It is not just a tour of the ruins. But then again, people may want this. It just needs to be disclosed. The guide was a good, knowledgeable guy. Once I asked not to stop at any more shopping places he agreed, but we were the only ones with him. It may be different with others on the tour.

    It was a nice excursion with a lot of information. Please note that a stop at a silk, leather shop or else for about 20min will be part of the daily trip. Besides that, I had a good time. Lunch was Ok and the included stops done and the guide was ok too.

    Vriendelijke gids, gezapig tempo, aandacht voor iedereen. Alleen het bezoek aan het moeder Maria huis is afzuip, entree betalen voor een ‘vermeende woning uit die tijd’ met een extra dure souvenir shop in lourdes stijl ! Avé avé tast in uw portemonee ! Ook het bezoek aan de lederwinkel was georchestreerd. Je gaat met je gezelschap de winkel binnen, krijgt een glaasje appelsap aangeboden en neemt plaats in een cinemazetel waarna de modeshow volgt. Het grappige is dat de zaal wordt opgevuld met een aantal mensen (figuranten) die na de show verdwijnen waarna de verkopers zich op u storten met mooie lamsleren jassen. Als je toch zoudt willen kopen realiseer je dan dat je hier bent voor de commissie die de gids ontvangt , dat de shop zelf ook nog een outlet afdeling heeft met grotere discounts
