From Kusadasi: Ephesus Shore Excursion

3. From Kusadasi: Ephesus Shore Excursion

According your pick-up time, meet with your guide and transfer to the first sight in ancient Ephesus, the best preserved classic city in the eastern Mediterranean and the largest open air museum in Turkey. Ephesus contains more then 30 buildings and structures linked together by streets that still have the marks of ancient chariot wheels. Visit the Great Theatre, where St. Paul preached against the pagans and the gladiators once engaged in battle. Originally holding 25,000 people, this theater was built in the Hellenistic period and was renovated by several Roman emperors. Designed for theatrical performances, later alterations allowed gladiatorial contests to be held here. The face of the Library of Celsus, which has been remarkably restored, is probably the most photographed place in Ephesus originally built in 115 to 125. You might also be able to see the Odeon Temple, Fountain of Trajan, Temple of Hadrian, the steam Scholastica Baths, marble road, agora and the Temple of Domitian. After visiting ancient Ephesus, continue to the Temple of Arthemis. Considered one of the seven wonders of the ancient world, the Temple of Artemis was dedicated to the Goddess of the Hunt. Only the foundation and one column remains of this temple which once measured 425 feet by 220 feet wide. St. Paul’s successful ministry in this city was considered a threat to this temple. The city reached its Golden Age and became a good model to the ancient world in culture and art. The tour finishes at around 1:00 PM, from here you will return to your hotel or cruise port.

What people are saying about Kusadasi

Amazing value. Taylan was simply the best. He was waiting for us at least 30 minutes BEFORE our scheduled arrival, so we were able to start our tour early. We had a very nice private coach bus for just 4 people. Taylan literally turned around in his seat and faced us and shared his expertise the whole ride. He is extremely knowledgeable and had nearly perfect English. Very kind and good with our teenage daughters. He grew up in the area and seemed to be friends with all the locals (who were all very friendly). Very accommodating of lots of requests for extra time, photos, etc. Ephesus was awesome. Not as much to see at Virgin Mary’s house and Temple of Artemis, but both were still worth seeing. Just leave plenty of time for Ephesus. Carpet cooperative was also very interesting. We ended up buying 2 rugs. Maybe we were suckers, but it seemed like an honest establishment and was recommended by Taylan… we will post again in 10-12 weeks when the rugs ship and let you know! Highly recommend

After 2 nights in Istanbul, as I was thinking of traveling south, I thought about learning more about the Galipoli Campaign in the Galipoli Peninsula. Having a guide to explain about the different sites and the Campaign really helps! I was really glad to have booked this tour with the amazing and friendly guide. After the tour, I did not travel back to Istanbul with the rest of the group but instead took a ferry to Çanakkale to continue the rest of my travels in Turkey. For anyone who would like to explore this option.

This ended up being one of the highlights of our trip. We were very lucky in that we were off our cruise ship about 40 minutes earlier than expected. Our guide was also early. This allowed us to be a step ahead of the bigger tours. Also, we ended up being the only group, so essentially we had a private tour guide and bus. It was a wonderful experience as we got yo dictate what we did when.

selcuk was a good guide , time could have been given more at Cleopatra pool . this experience is good and get your guide should add payment of entrance fee on their portal

Long day ex Izmir but good hotel pick up and transfers. Great visit to main attractions but also many other interesting places to visit.
