Istanbul: Bosphorus Hop on-Hop Off & Dolmabahce Palace

2. Istanbul: Bosphorus Hop on-Hop Off & Dolmabahce Palace

The Bosphorus Strait, one of Turkey’s most significant waterways, is a natural strait that forms the continental boundary between Asia and Europe. It is common to take a guided cruise down the strait while listening to a historical audio guide as you view Turkey from different vantage points. But if you want to skip the crowds and long-winded audio guides, we’ve got the perfect thing for you! We’ll meet at the Kabatas Station before making our way to the Dolmabahce Palace. This grand palace served as the administrative headquarters from the mid-1800s to the early 1900s. We’ll wander around the majestic structure and snap photos of the intricate architecture before boarding a boat to sail down the Bosphorus Strait. We’ll take in the views aboard the boat before disembarking and heading to Emirgan Park. This historical urban park is one of the largest public parks in Istanbul and is also known for its colorful flora. Take a breather and soak in the enchanting and picturesque views before heading to the next stop. Kucuksu Pavilion was commissioned by Sultan Abdülmecid to serve as his summer residence. While not as large as other city landmarks, this opulent pavilion is a sight to behold due to its neo-Baroque architecture and design. Our last stop of the day is Beylerbeyi Palace. Built as another imperial Ottoman summer residence, this 19th-century palatial structure features impressive neo-Baroque designs, stunning gardens, and glorious pavilions.

Beautiful boat, small-scale, good care on board in the form of water, tea, nuts and a small cheese sandwich with tomato. The trip was also fine, big round on the Bosphorus. The stop on the Asian part is short and the trip took 2.5 hours instead of 3 hours. But we thought that was fine!

We would recommend highly, staff was excellent and friendly, detailed description of places plus served snacks, even one of the staff helped us to take the tram back to our hotel in a quick manner as taxi can get caught in traffic, would love ❤️ to visit again!

3 hours on the Bosphorus. If you are in Istanbul, this is one of the tours you have to do. The view from the river is fantastic. Guide on the boat has a lot of interesting info.
