Full description
Malaysian cuisine is a complex beast. Thankfully, you can hit the street food tour scene with confidence, by joining this daily 4-hour chef-led food feast. Limited to 8 guests, you’ll be led away from the tourist crowds to some of Kuala Lumpur’s best joints, known only to locals. Along the way, you’ll dive into one of the city’s best wet markets to discover the produce and ingredients which go into Malaysian dishes, before tasting between 13 and 14 different dishes and snacks. As well as fine examples of classics such as rendang, nasi lemak and flame-grilled chicken skewers with rich peanut satay, your chef/guide will steer you towards some of KL’s lesser known delights like cooling cendol durian, banana-leaf grilled mackerel with sambal and nasi kerabu, a blue rice dish spiked with blue pea flowers. If you’re looking to truly get to the heart of the city’s cuisine, there’s no better way than on this chef-led culinary adventure. Escape the tourist traps and get your taste buds ready for the ride. You won’t regret it.

The tour is definitely excellent and was a highlight of my trip to Kuala Lumpur. Far warning though, even though this is "chef designed", this is a street food tour, and not for the faint hearted. I would have never entered a single of these places by myself, nor walking in these neighbourhoods after dark alone. However, thanks to our lovely guide everything went very smoothly and now I can say I have tasted all what Kuala Lumpur can offer!

Our guide Kiran was very informative and engaging throughout the whole tour. She showed us not only the places to eat but also explained the background of the dishes as well as the neighborhoods that we visited. It is truly a must have experience in KL. Of course the food was amazing as well!

Do this tour on your arrival day or shortly after or you will eat the wrong things in Kuala Lumpur. We got a great insight including history and background. Our group was also very good. Really don't eat too much or nothing at all on this day, everyone gets full here.
