From Kochi: 2-Day Alappuzha Backwaters Houseboat Cruise

2. From Kochi: 2-Day Alappuzha Backwaters Houseboat Cruise

Alappuzha, also known as the "Venice of the East", is an important tourist destination in India and the backwaters of Alappuzha are the most popular tourist attraction in Kerala. A houseboat cruise on these backwaters is a delightful experience. Alappuzha is a landmark between the broad Arabian Sea and the web of rivers flowing into it. It is a town in the Alappuzha District in the southern Indian state of Kerala. Lord Curzon, the Viceroy of the Indian Empire, made a visit to Alappuzha in the early 20th century. Fascinated by the scenic beauty of the place he said “here nature has spent up on the land her richest bounties”. Detailed itinerary: Day 1: After the pick-up from Cochin Port or at your hotel at 10:15, you will transfer to Alappuzha to board the houseboat around 12:00. Once aboard the houseboat you will slowly cruise through the backwaters and village area of Alappuzha, passing paddy fields and coconut palm. Main meals will be served on board before staying overnight on the houseboat. Day 2: The cruise will finish around 9:00. You will then transfer back to Cochin Port or your hotel, arriving by 11:00.

Must do activity

This is a must do activity when in Kerala without a doubt. The day started with ourselves (2) collected from our hotel promptly and transferred to the boat which was about 1.5 hours from Fort Kochi. We arrived and were greeted and undertook some paperwork, the only thing we were not told about is they need your passports and did not have them with us but it proved not to be a major issue. We then were transferred to our boat with 3 staff and a boat to ourselves. The staff during the overnight trip were fantastic and looked after us very well, also the food was good and we cannot praise the whole operation enough. DONT THINK ABOUT IT, DO IT.

We had a lovely time cruising in Allepey. The food was amazing and the crew very friendly and always available to accommodate our needs. The boat was very comfortable and the scenery breathtaking. Definitely recommended

Great trip!

Fantastic trip. Our crew were great - really attentive. The food on board was some of the best we had whilst travelling in India (albeit there was a lot of it!). Would recommend to anyone visiting the area

a relaxing way to enjoy part of this beautiful area of India.

prompt and efficient taxi transfers from and to our hotel, comfortable and spacious accommodation, delicious food and a very attentive and helpful crew. The canoe excursion was an unexpected bonus.

A wonderful experience in a wonderful landscape. Luxurious boat for 4 people, super clean, extremely friendly and helpful team - and the chef outdid himself, the food was excellent
