The tour is 7 hours long and you spend only 3 hours on the boat, you'll spend the other 4 hours driving through the crazy Indian traffic. The boat ride was very beautiful, we enjoyed watching the locals doing laundry in the backwaters and waiving at us. Lunch was served onboard the boat, it was very basic but the taste was not bad. Our guide Jo asked us on the way back if wanted to go shopping in town which we said yes to. We ended up in a traditional store where they sell carpets ..? We booked the tour where you also see the Chinese fishing nets, well that's a 2 minute photo stop on the side of the road. We think the tour is not worth it's money if you spend more than half the time in a (uncomfortable) driving from the port in Cochin to the boat.

The houseboat experience itself was excellent. The guide on the bus could have done a much better job of telling us about sights, people of India. He would provide information only when asked a question.
