Full description
Visit Bungamati, a classical medieval village that lies across the Bagmati River from Chobar with its famous Rato Machhindranath temple. Explore local woodcarving and pedestrian-only streets before tourists crowd in. Explore Khokana Village, a traditional and tiny Newari village about 8 kilometers south of Kathmandu on the outskirts of Patan. Khokana has long been known for the production of rich mustard oil. In the Rato Machhindranath Temple, learn all about the deity that is believed to have been brought to Kathmandu from Kamaru Kamakhya. Next, see the Karya Binayak Temple, which is widely revered as a protector deity of Khokana town. Other sights to visit around the village are the Bungamati Culture Museum, Dey Pukha central pond, and Karya Binak Temple on the way to Khokana Village.
