Take a journey into the past and roam the decks above and under the water line like the world traveller you are. Expect to be dazzled by the stylish decorated rooms before taking time to unwind on the ship's impressive bow. The Steamship Rotterdam is the biggest oceanliner ever built in the Netherlands. As the former flagship of the Holland-America Line, this ship has sailed many of the world’s seas since 1959. The ship is now moored permanently in the Maashaven in Rotterdam, by Katendrecht. Look across the monumental bow, watch the heavy windlasses, climb up the towering bridge, check out the chart room, the radio room and visit the original captain’s cabin. Explore the glorious past and follow in the footsteps of emigrants and world travellers by taking the Rotterdam Complete Tour, the Seabreeze Deluxe Tour or the Steam and Chrome Tour.
Embark on a thrilling experience and explore Rotterdam in the most unique way aboard a speedboat traveling up to 90 km/h over the Maas River. Feel the adrenaline rushing through your body while you see and learn about the city’s famous water-side highlights. Start your thrilling river adventure in the city center of Rotterdam and marvel at impressive highlights like the Erasmusbridge and the Euromast Tower. After, head into the big river where, on a lucky day, the RIB boat will cruise along the huge containerships that visit Rotterdam on a daily basis. Sail up to the city of Vlaardingen and see, among other things, the vastness of the 'Waalhaven', the village of Pernis after which the Shell refinery is named. Continue to the Wilton Harbor with all its offshore activities and of course the city from the Maas with the SS Rotterdam, Erasmus Bridge and Willemsbrug, The North Island, and ...

The tour could start when the scanner and headphones were handed over. Hold the device at the scan point at 12 stations in order to be told about 1-2 minute episodes about the special location, often with memories from the crew. That was nice, easy to understand and very interesting. The scan points were sometimes not easy to find because they were relatively small and inconspicuous. Unfortunately, the tour was shortened, including the engine room. But that was not possible (and had nothing to do with Corona). In some places (salons) there were also employees on site who could explain something. Unfortunately, they weren't always there, or they were busy with foreign-speaking tourists. The tour is a must for those interested in the maritime sector, but it is also recommended for others, as it is an adventure for children too. But I wouldn't book the full tour again, I'd rather ask on-site what's possible.
A day in Rotterdam with our 9-year-old grandson, including a visit to the SS R'dam. Open again the first day and what an enthusiastic staff. We enjoyed. Lots to see and experience!! Super!
