Full description

Explore Meteora's religious highlights on this guided minibus tour from Kalabaka. Stop at Saint Antonios where the first hermits arrived in Meteora and travel to the cave of St. George the Mandilas. Drive to three local monasteries where you can take photos and visit a Byzantine church.

Meet your guide at the Kalampaka Train Station and hop aboard a comfortable and air-conditioned mini-bus. Sit back and relax on the scenic drive to Saint Antonios, where the first hermits arrived in the area of Meteora.

Listen as your guide tells you about this 10-century history. Discover how the first hermit monks sought isolation here and laid the foundations for Meteora's monastic life. Find out about how the caves of the area are filled with abandoned hermitages from that period. Continue to three Meteora Monasteries where the minibus will stop so you can take pictures of stunning views of these ancient religious sites. Go to a cave that is dedicated to the venerated Saint George the Mandilas.

Head to a Byzantine church that was dedicated to the virgin Mary and was built 300 years before the first monks arrived in Meteora. Return to the train station in Kalampaka at the end of your tour.

It was a trip that will last in my memories ! Meteora is an amazing place, even if some monastries were closed we could see beautiful views and take picture. Our Guide Elena is so adorable and helpfull ! We were only 3 tourists so I'm glad I got to talk with her. It made me want to go back to Meteora. Thank you for such a nice experience !

Very nice experience. Good guide, good driver (Maria and Nico) We had the chance to visit several places without being pressed for time. Clear and relevant information even if little experienced in English (the guide speaks slowly and clearly). If we had to do it again we would choose this local company again Meteora Tour. Thanks again!

What an amazing day. We visited 5 monasteries, one of the best being one that most tourists miss. Our guide was super knowledgeable about the history of Meteora, and of Greece in general. There was no lack of stops for amazing photo opportunities. The tour bus was modern, clean and comfortable. We hope to get the chance to return for a longer, more thorough tour!
