Discover the jungle of Yungas : horseback riding with asado

4. Discover the jungle of Yungas : horseback riding with asado

Are you ready for adventure? The Yungas jungle is one of Argentina's last remaining primeval forests. Discover lush vegetation and a rich biodiversity: over 600 species of birds and animals such as the pecari, tapir, mono kai monkey, puma, etc. This activity takes place in a finca in the middle of the Yungas mountains, where gauchos still live in the traditional way, with their cows semi-liberty in the jungle. This is a private experience: you have a guide all to yourself for the duration of the activity. Horseback riding is accessible to all levels of rider, even beginners. On the program : 9:00 am - Meet at Finca La Fé : you will come with your own vehicle, or, as an option, a driver will pick you up in Salta Capital or Jujuy Capital. 9:15 am - Coffee and morning snack while the team saddles the horses. 9:30 am - Departure for the horseback ride. For 2.5 hours, you'll ride through the jungle trails of the Yungas, accompanied by a gaucho from the finca and a translator (who speaks English and French). You'll ride through lush vegetation and, with a little luck, come across some of its wild inhabitants: parrots, toucans, pavos del monte, etc. 1:00 pm - On your return to the finca, an authentic Argentine asado awaits you. Menu: traditional empanadas, parilla-braised meat, side dishes: potatoes and vegetables cooked in a wood-fired oven, dessert, with a glass of local wine. The meat comes from the finca, less than 500 meters from its pasture to your plate. Fruit and vegetables come from the neighboring village. After the asado, you can enjoy a digestive walk along one of the finca's marked trails. You can then take to the road in your own vehicle, or (as an option) a driver will take you to any point in Salta Capital or Jujuy Capital. Optional: you can choose to stay at Finca La Fé for longer, spending the night in one of the lodges built from massive trunks, and relaxing in the private Jacuzzi with the "thermal waters" experience.

Mountains of Yungas : Condor Waterfall hiking adventure

5. Mountains of Yungas : Condor Waterfall hiking adventure

Explore an undiscovered area: the Yungas Corridor, a transition zone between the Amazon rainforest and the Andes Cordillera. This is one of Argentina's last remaining primary forests, classified as a World Biosphere Reserve by Unesco. It is characterized by a rich biodiversity: toucans, parrots, pavo del monte, peccaries, tapirs, pumas, etc. live in this preserved environment, far from any human activity. The Condor waterfall takes its name from the presence of condor nests along the trail. With a little discretion and a bit of luck, you'll catch a glimpse of one of these immense birds flying overhead. This hike is of a medium/difficult level: you'll have to walk through water and jump from rock to rock. You drive to the starting point of this activity, La Finca La Fé, in your own vehicle. It is located 1h15 from Jujuy Capital or 1h45 from Salta Capital. If you don't have your own vehicle, a driver can pick you up (optional extra). 9 a.m. - meet at Finca La Fé, have a morning snack and we'll explain the day's activity and safety instructions. 9:30 am - departure for the waterfall trek in your own vehicle, accompanied by a local guide and translator (speaking French or English). You'll take a road slaloming through the mountains with superb panoramic views of the Yungas. You can stop to see a prehistoric relic on the side of the road, called Abra de Los Morteros. 10.15 am - arrival at the starting point of the Condor Waterfall trek. You'll walk for about an hour through the forest before reaching the rio. 12pm - Enjoy a delicious Argentine picada on the banks of the rio. On the menu: empanadas, bondiola ham, escabeche, criollo cheese, wood-oven bread and homemade cakes. All accompanied by local wine. For 4 hours, you'll walk through the rio, in the middle of a canyon with gigantic cliffs. At the top of these cliffs, condor nests are perched. The guide will teach you about the habits of this impressive bird. In the middle of the wilderness, you'll have the feeling of being alone in the world and the first to explore the rio. 5 p.m. - Return to your vehicle, and end of the activity. You can drive back to your destination in your own vehicle, or a driver can take you to the point of your choice, in Salta Capital or Jujuy Capital (optional extra). Alternatively, you can extend the experience by spending the night in one of the comfortable lodges at Finca La Fé, in the middle of the Yungas jungle. When you return from your expedition, enjoy a sensational "thermal waters" bath in your private ecological Jacuzzi, and savor a delicious Argentinean asado under the stars. This experience is optional, subject to accommodation availability.
