Ramayana Ballet Dance at the Prambanan Temple

1. Ramayana Ballet Dance at the Prambanan Temple

Be collected from your accommodation in Yogyakarta or Borobudur by your friendly driver and be driven to the Prambanan Temple. The show begins at 7:30 PM and finishes around 9:30 PM. The dance is about two men fighting for the love of a princess called Sinta. It begins by introducing the characters Rama Wijaya, the Prince of Ayodya, and Princess Sinta, as they wander through the Dandaka Forest with Laksmana. Sinta gets kidnapped by Rahwana and taken away to Alengka Kingdom. Rama wants to get Sinta back. He asks his monkey troops, led by Hanoman the white monkey, to build a bridge and rescue his Princess Dewi Sinta. The story ends with the death of Rahwana and Rama and Dewi Sinta reunite. Sit back and relax after the performance, while your friendly driver escorts you back to your accommodation.

What people are saying about Java

This was my third tour of the day, as I’d done the Borobudur Sunrise tour in the morning and had already been to Prambanan itself immediately prior to the Ramayana show. Widi, my guide for all 3, was really great - he had loads of useful information about Java, about the temples and about Ramayana, so everything I did and saw always bad genuine context around it. The ballet itself was entertaining and interesting - there was a screen showing a summary of what was happening in the story as well - it was a real spectacle and really good value.

Guide was prompt and friendly. The Ballet was a good rendition of the story of Ram and Sri Lanka. I thought it might get boring after a while, but it actually was pretty good teh whole way through. The projection of the story on the wall was a good addition.

we tought it would be an open air event with a view on prambanan, unfortunately was indoor and was very warm inside. the performance was nice but fairly long. the way that the event is marketed was a bit too fancy, it actually was very casual. so be prepared
