The main tourist attraction in Jaipur is situated on a hilltop. Maharajah Sawaii Jai Singh II ofA palace in Jaipur, India is called Hawa Mahal. Red and pink sandstone were used in its construction. The palace extends to the zenana, or women’s rooms, and is located on the periphery of Jaipur’s City Palace. Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh erected the building in 1799 Jaipur built five astronomical observatories in northern India between 1724 and 1730. The observatories, or “Jantar Mantars,” as they are also called, consist of a number of architecturally distinctive buildings, each serving a specific purpose for astronomical measurement. In the centre of the Man Sagar Lake in Jaipur, the Indian state of Rajasthan’s capital city, there stands a palace called Jal Mahal.
