Full description
Discover the largest city in Turkey, and the only city in the world to straddle 2 continents, on a full-day tour of Istanbul’s iconic highlights. Stops include the Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, Hippodrome, Topkapi Palace, and the lively Grand Bazaar. One of the major highlights of your itinerary will be the iconic Hagia Sophia, the 4th largest church – and the largest Byzantine church – in the world. You will also see Sultanahmet Mosque, the icon of Istanbul, it stands on the site of the original Byzantine city, directly across from the Hagia Sophia. Continue to the Hippodrome. In Byzantine times it was a huge open-air arena with banks of seats that formed an elongated oval shape and boasted seating for up to 100,000 people. Continue to Topkapi Palace, former residence of the Ottoman Sultans. Today a spectacular museum, it boasts one of the world’s largest collections of Chinese and Japanese porcelain and the famous treasury of the Royal Family. Wander around the lively streets and stalls of the Grand Bazaar, in continuous operation since the 15th-Century. Pick up souvenirs among the carpets, antiques, trinkets, and bowls of Nazar “evil eye” amulets. Finally, you will see the famous Golden Horn. Drive along the Horn, past Roman walls and Byzantine churches, and see the body of water that divides Europe and Asia.

Taking part in the tour was worth it

cons: unfortunately the pickup service was 30 minutes late, without any prior notice. It was Easter so there were lots of tourists around, which meant that despite the tour our group had to wait at certain points. pros: The guide was the best, spoke German very well and really did a comprehensive job of informing us. The descriptions at the carpet store were the best ones that we've ever heard in Turkey. We weren't pressured at all to buy anything. The lunch was well-organized and the quality was perfectly good.

Informative tour, very competent guide

This tour comes recommended to all going on a short stay, you see the most important attractions, get in quickly everywhere without queueing. Lunch wasn't among the best, was actually quite average, but it had a view. The guide was very competent, humorous, knew how to make the tour entertaining with nice stories and spoke outstanding german. It was a tight schedule, but was kept to exactly, including pickup from the hotel. All in all highly recommended.

Culture, history and cuisine in one full, wonderful day!

It was great! We were picked up at our hotel on time. The guide was excellent. He had a very thorough knowledge of the history of each site we visited. The lunch was very good. The bus driver was very patient and careful, especially in that traffic. I would definitely book another tour with company again.
