Embark on an incredible yacht tour to Palomino Islands and for the chance to witness Peru's incredible seabirds and marine wildlife and swim with thousands of sea lions in their natural habitat. First, get picked up from your hotel if you choose the relevant option when booking, otherwise make your own way to the meeting point in Callao. Start the tour from La Punta Bay where you will board a comfortable and safe yacht equipped with sophisticated navigation equipment, bathrooms, and other amenities. Sail out into the Pacific Ocean on an unforgettable 4-hour journey past the islands of Callao and along the coast of San Lorenzo Island. Pass a naval base and the El Frontón Island, where a maximum-security prison existed until the 1980s. Cruise along the coast of the Cabinzas Islands which are inhabited by several colonies of guano birds, until you finally reach the central attraction, the Palomino Islands. When you arrive, observe a colony of approximately 8000 sea lions, one of the largest in the area. Get kitted out with neoprene wetsuits and life jackets and take the opportunity to jump into the water as you get up close to these friendly animals. It was a wonderful experience. We had a small group of about 10-12 people who easily had space on a small yacht where you could sit below deck at the front and back. After about 1 hour drive past small islands we were at the destination and could see and hear the sea lions. Well equipped with neoprene suits and life jackets, we were able to swim the last few meters directly to the curious animals. They come in groups, eye to eye, you don't need to be afraid, you might get a kiss on the feet. They are "wild" animals, ie. so no petting zoo. (It's a good thing). All in all a worthwhile tour if you want to experience something else after city & mountain tracking. And we also had sun out there, which is not every day in Lima. Thanks to the organization & the whole team!

This trip was excellent. The tour guide was very informative and friendly and really helped to make the experience enjoyable. Everything needed to swim was supplied and changing rooms after. I was also offered sea sickness medication but I didn’t need it. The guide helped us in the water and explained what to do to allow the sea lions to come as close as possible. This part of the experience was amazing as they come right up and are very playful and curious. I would highly recommend this trip to anyone visiting Lima.

It was very cool seeing the island! I would just recommend doing the trip during warmer times, so that more of your group will venture into the water. Only one of us was brave enough to jump in and get cold. The rest of us were too scared! Plus, the sea lions tend to stay out of the water during the winter months. Otherwise, we had a fun, mixed group and an informative guide ... and a nice cruise out into the Pacific! Would definitely recommend adding this to your Lima itinerary in the spring or summer.

Our guide was very friendly, helpful, and accommodating. I couldn't have asked for more from this tour.

Amazing experience with nice and easy-going guides. Totally recommended!!!
