Full description
Leave Inverness in the morning and follow the beautiful Caledonian Canal to its source at Loch Ness. The loch is home to the famous Loch Ness monster, affectionately known as Nessie. You'll spend most of the morning at Loch Ness, allowing plenty of time to look for Nessie. Choose to take a 5-star cruise across the loch to Urquhart Castle. If you’d rather see the loch from the shore, then stay on board the bus and your driver will take you to Urquhart Castle. Explore the ruins of the castle, enjoy the visitor center, and soak up the atmosphere of Scotland’s most famous Loch. Your tour continues to Invermoriston, where you'll pause to take photos of the bridge and Columbus Well. Afterwards, journey to Fort Augustus, the furthermost point of your full-day Highlands tour. Fort Augustus is a small town of only 650 people and a perfect spot to watch boats passing through the Caledonian Canal while you enjoy your lunch. After lunch you'll begin the journey back to Inverness, stopping at the Falls of Foyers. The waterfall was a favorite retreat for poet Rabbie Burns, and is truly breathtaking. Enjoy plenty of time here to appreciate the landscape before continuing on to Dores to see Dores Beach. Spend a short while wandering the sandy shoreline before boarding the bus for the final time and returning to Inverness.

the trip is an easy and short one. the guides were welcoming too and the weather was great. the trip went well but I would suggest taking more photo stops on the go as there is ample time on the trip. making the Cruise option available would have been great. our trip only had 6 of us and it appeared to me that the cruise option was not shown as feasible as such so most of us ended up not taking it but it would have been great if we were able to actually take it and time the trip accordingly.

TONKS!! Our guide Tonks made the entire tour amazing. She’s a local who’s obviously very passionate and knowledgeable about her beautiful country and it showed during our full day tour. The tour itself was great, stopping at a lot of local attractions/spots we’d have likely missed just running around the area on our own. Tonks was kind enough to stop and let the group take pictures on a few beautiful stretches. Something other guides we’ve had didn’t do. In my opinion, most tours are predictable but the guide is someone that can make it special and for us, Tonks made it a great experience. She played great Scottish music during the drives and pointed out interesting local spots. She answered everyone’s questions enthusiastically. At the end of the tour she thanked us and even got emotional since it was her first tour since COVID which showed us just how much she cares. Tonks, if you read this, thank you again from your Canadian friends sitting in the front row. :)

Ryan, Our guide for the day was fantastic! really friendly, knowledgeable and very accomodating. First time visiting Inverness and it was my birthday, so the Highlands and Loch Ness tour was our planned excursion. We'll worth it this part of Scotland is beautiful. If I get the chance I will definitely be coming back.
