Girona: Small Group Walking Tour
- Small group
- Duration: 3 hours
Excellent tour, on a Sunday morning in October we were just 2 persons & they still decided to do the tour & we very much appreciate that! Our guide, Jerom (excuse us if we misspelt the name) was amazing: we felt like we are looking at this ancient city through his eyes. It was not a boring “look right you’re gonna see a wall, look left you’re gonna see a cathedral...” type of tour, but he made us feel like he was the town, he was the stories of the past & he was sharing it with us! He was very welcoming to any questions not only to the history of the town but in general to the way of life in the region & various “whys” & “why-nots”. The tour included not only the history but also the link to the present and you feel like you are walking it with a person who really knows every stone of it. Amazing feeing that we appreciated. I would recommend doing it on a Sunday as both the Cathedral & Archeological & Jewish museums are open & free.
The guide was very knowledgeable and very nice. We booked the tour in English however there was another couple that joined us that did not speak English so we had to wait until she was done doing the translation of what she just explained. Although the tour was very nice it was a slight irritant because it felt that we always had to wait until we can move on to the next site. I just recommend to the touring company that if they do the tours in more than one language that they give a heads up to people that are booking the tour.
Marc did an excellent job of explaining both the history of Girona and the context of this history. In addition to showing us areas that are frequently missed by tourists his knowledge was fortified by the fact that he was born and raised in Girona and attended the university there. Following an excellent and very personalized tour, Marc was kind enough to recommend one of the most fantastic sea food restaurants that we had ever experienced. And all of this was in the historic walled area of Girona. Marc made our day magical.
Ona was one of the best guides we have had in Spain. She has a detailed knowledge of Girona's history and her English is perfect. She made the tour for us very interesting and entertaining. On top of if, she has made some suggestions for us and thanks to her we also visited Besalu and Salvador Dali's museum. She also has a very sweet personality and was a pleasure to talk to. Every minute of the tour was worth it and she made us see and feel like Girona is one of the most beautiful and exquisite cities in Spain.
The first time visit necessitates a guide to really understand ‘things’ and this is successful with a great local guide like Susanna. This gave us the insight on the first day for the full site tour the next two days. Oh Susanna, oh so many thank yousees.
