Stuttgart: Self-guided walk of Modern Architecture & Nature

3. Stuttgart: Self-guided walk of Modern Architecture & Nature

Stuttgart is famous for Mercedes-Benz and Porsche, but also for the Weissenhofsiedlung with its architecture from 1920s. The estate consists of 21 houses designed by renowned modernist architects, including Le Corbusier, Mies van der Rohe, Walter Gropius and Bruno Taut. It is considered a milestone of modern architecture and a pioneering example of international housing construction. The settlement was intended to serve as a showcase for modern living and was an important step towards creating affordable and functional housing for broad sections of the population. Since 2016, the settlement has even been a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This tour starts at the Kunstakademie bus stop and takes you expertly through the housing estate, followed by a fantastic view from the Killesberg Höhenpark. With its panorama terraces, magnificent flower beds, a large playground, animal enclosures, a children's theatre and a historical fair, the park is one of the most popular destinations in Stuttgart. At the stops there are entertaining tasks to solve and exciting questions to answer. Who knows, for example, where flamingos get their pink colour? Find out! The tour is a great way to get outside and discover new things with family, friends or on your own. It's like being shown Stuttgart-North by a good friend. Many anecdotes will enrich your walk through the city. You can start the tour at any time and as often as you like in the browser of a smartphone. On site or even from the comfort of your sofa. Although I grew up and live in the greater Stuttgart area and of course know all the sights I have visited, I have learned a lot of new things about Stuttgart. I found it very interesting. The audio guide not only speaks High German, but also Swabian if set to number 3...I found that very funny. Great!!!

Dear City Tour Team, My husband and I did the "Blue Route" on his birthday today. It was really an experience for both of us. We got to know many places, sights and stories of Stuttgart. We're both excited. Many Thanks.

This bus was easy to find. and the guided tour was sweet. My family and I loved it!

It truly gets you around the city and its historic sights fast.

It was a convenient way of touring the City with my family.
