Full description
Nowhere else in Tasmania is the romance and nostalgic charm of the colonial days more alive than in the beautiful setting of Richmond. Embark on a half-day coach tour to explore the highlights of this historic village.  Benefit from hotel pick-up or join the tour from a central meeting point. Journey out of Hobart via the Brooker Highway, passing North Hobart and New Town. Richmond is one of Australia's most unique and historic towns, dating from the 1820s. Cross the Richmond Bridge, the oldest convict built road bridge in Australia, and visit Richmond Gaol, operational since 1826.  Explore the village of Richmond to see convict-built homes, classic Georgian mansions and small cottages, many unique shops, galleries, and restaurants. Taste some Coal Valley region wines and local produce (at own expense), shop, or relax! Whatever you choose, there will be plenty of time to explore before the return journey to Hobart. Tour concludes with drop-off to Brooke Street Pier, in central Hobart.

Tim was a very friendly and knowledgeable guide. The tour is basically a half hour trip in a mini bus with interesting sites pointed out en route. The rest is free time in Richmond. There is an optional jail tour for an extra $5. We did have a short stop off at a cheese/chocolate shop called Wicked on the way.

It was such a pity it rained and it spoiled me seeing most of the place.

I was surprised we did not stop at the winery just outside Richmond or at Wicked Cheese. I could have booked a cheaper tour and would have had I known.
