It is a former maximum-security prison similar to "Alcatraz. It was built in the 19th century as a military base and it was used as a prison during a 2nd world war by Italians. The prison is now abandoned and has gained a reputation as a haunted location. Some people have reported hearing strange noises and seeing ghostly apparitions within its walls. After Mamula Prison our last attraction is a Blue Cave. It is a natural sea cave which is known for its unique blue light effect, which is created by sunlight reflecting off the white sandy bottom of the cave and through the crystal clear water. Visitors can only access the cave by boat, and it is a popular destination for tourists and boating enthusiasts. The cave is big, with a narrow entrance that opens up into a larger chamber. Next stop is at former military Submarine tunnels used during Second World War for hiding and repairing submarines. Tour continues with 30 min visit of LADY OF THE ROCK Island – an artificial island made in XV century by local sailors in honor of Our Lady for safe return from their trips. Present Church was built by Venetians in 1630 and it houses numerous works of art by famous local painter Tripo Kokolja as well as numerous silver and gold plates – gifts from seamen for their safe passages. Special curiosity is a unique tapestry hand-made by Jacinta Kunic-Mijovic for over 25 years. The tapestry was partially made from her own hair – gold in youth and silver in old. Tour ends in from of Kotor Old Town.
