Enjoy a 2-day tour from Hanoi to Sapa, visiting Cat Cat village and taking a cable car up Fansipan Peak – the Roof of Indochina.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Hanoi – Sapa – Cat Cat village

(Meals: lunch, dinner) Depart Hanoi for Sapa early in the morning. Stop for short breaks in Phu Tho Province and Lao Cai city before arriving in Sapa town. Be greeted by a representative in Sapa and enjoy lunch with local Vietnamese dishes. In the afternoon, trek to Cat Cat village, the home of the Black H’Mong people. See the Cat Cat Waterfall and the hydrofoil constructed by the French during the 19th century. Visit a local H’Mong family and learn about their culture and customs. Then, trek back to Sapa for dinner. Spend the night in a hotel in Sapa.

Day 2: Sapa – Fansipan Peak – Hanoi

(Meals: breakfast, lunch) After breakfast, transfer to the cable car station. Your driver will help you buy your cable car ticket. Then, take the 20-minute cable car ride up Fansipan by yourself. Admire the spectacular scenery, visit the pagoda, and climb the 600 steps to the peak, known as the Roof of Indochina. Return to Sapa and have lunch at the hotel. Enjoy time to explore Sapa on your own before boarding the sleeper bus back to Hanoi.

The activity was very good. Very good organization, they took care of everything. I have to mention that Viet was every day in touch through WhatsApp with me, making sure that everything was fine and I was enjoying. In Sapa, Lô was my guide and she is such a professional, very organised and down to Earth guide, she just did a great job. I really enjoyed my time with her ☺️

If you are in Vietnam, you should definitely visit Sapa to get a feel of their native side. The 6hr trip from Hanoi to Sapa was a bit uncomfortable as the budget sleeper bus was tiny for a person like me height 1.8m. Once we reached Sapa, our tour guide ‘Soh’ took care of us throughout the both days. The 1st day was a 2.5hrs hike or rather walk to Cat village. It’s a easy walk through the village and shops. The hotel and the meals were quite good considering it’s a 2-3 star hotel. The 2nd day, we were picked up and dropped of at the cable car station to Fansipan. No tour guides for this. Easily the best cable car ride you will take. Amazing view. About 25min ride to the top of Fansipan. There’s a beautiful temple on the top of Fansipan but it’s quite cold so bring a jacket. After the visit, you will be dropped off back to the hotel for lunch. After lunch we got back on the sleeper bus, but this time a luxury type of bus with cabins. Overall, it’s a great trip without much trekking.

Well worth the money spent. We figured it would cost more to arrange our own transport, accommodation and cable car ride to Mount Fansipan, so decided to take up the package from GetYourGuide. While there was no accompanying guide throughout the journey, the coordinator was constantly in touch to check on us. Transfer from Hanoi to Sapa and vice versa - it was our first experience on the sleeper bus and the kids love it. Space might be a bit tight for plus-sized traveller, otherwise it was comfortable. Hotel in Sapa is located in a convenient location near the market/night market. The room was clean and spacious. All meals were included throughout our stay and they were delicious. A local guide escorted us into Cat Cat Village which is mostly paved and has many photo opportunities. It's many steps down and then up the other way. The frail and weak knees should think twice. While the trip up Mount Fansipan was not escorted, it was a breeze to navigate. Timing was adequate.
