5. From Hanoi: Ha Giang Guided 3-Day Trip

Day 1: Ha Giang City – Yen Minh town – Tham Ma pass - H’mong King palace - Dong Van (B,L,D) The tour starts at 8:00 am, when your guide picks you up from the hostel. You will quickly see a big change in the scenery as you drive into the mountains before the town of Tam Son. We will cross Bac Sum Pass and go up the Heaven Gate to enjoy the twin mountains and the whole view of Tam Son town. The drive will continue towards the town of Yen Minh, where you can enjoy delicious lunch. After, we will drive towards Dong Van, through picturesque Chin Khoanh pass. The whole Dong Van Karst Plateau is a major geoheritage sight in Vietnam. You will see unending rice fields, thousands of limestone rocks and breath-taking views. You can observe the lives of hill-tribe villages where local people work on the land. A few kilometers before reaching Dong Van Town, we will stop in Hmong King’s Palace, a home for Voung’s family in Sa Phin. We will arrive in Dong Van in the late afternoon, just in time to enjoy a good dinner. In the evening, you can explore the town and relax before the next eventful day. Day 2: Dong Van Town – Ma Pi Leng Pass – Meo Vac Town – Du Gia (B,L,D) After a delicious breakfast we leave Dong Van Town to enter, arguably, the most beautiful part of the whole journey, located on the Happiness road connecting the towns of Dong Van and Meo Vac, Ma Pi Leng Pass. The legendary pass is well known for craggy cliffs and breath-taking views. It is the most ragged pass in the north, often referred to as the "king" of the passes in Vietnam! The whole road is winding through the cliffs and overcomes Ma Pi Leng pass at an altitude of 2,000 meters. To show you the full beauty of the pass, we will trek the breathtaking Sky Path to admire the scenery of the whole valley and Nho Que river. From the amazing mountain viewpoint you will be able to experience a 360° panorama of Ma Pi Leng Pass and take unforgettable pictures. Standing on the peak of the pass, you will feel overwhelmed by the majestic space of mountains and rivers. Every day of your journey you will be able to observe a daily life of hill-tribe villages. We will continue our journey to more distant villages. From there, you will know how people live in remote parts of Vietnam. We will drive through the villages of Lung Ho, Mau Due and Meo Vac, where we will have a pit stop for lunch and a drink. From Meo Vac Town we will continue through the mountains to Du Gia town, where we will spend a night in a homestay located in the middle of a dreamy green rice field. Day 3: Du Gia – Duong Thuong Village - Lung Khuy Cave – Ha Giang City (B,L) On the third day of your journey we will take the road back to Ha Giang. But it doesn’t mean end of attractions! First, starting from our supplier's office at No.47 Hàng Bông street, we go to an old and traditional restaurant specializing in entrees such as pillow cake, shrimp cake, Pho rolls, spring rolls... Have a taste of some of our popular dishes. St. Joseph’s is right nearby, so we stop by there for some pics of the late colonial French architecture. Stop at a local restaurant to try banh cuon (filled rice noodles) and watch as skilled chefs demonstrate how this tasty dish is created. Next, enjoy pho (noodle soup), which is Vietnam’s most famous dish. Try both the beef and chicken versions. And we definitely can't miss out on a Vietnamese traditional dessert called Chè. They have both hot and cold versions for each season. After several dishes, you must be full right now. We'll catch a taxi and go straight to the train street. Although train schedules show them to come daily, sometimes they do and sometimes not, sometimes they get delayed too. So if you're lucky enough, you may catch one and experience the huge train passing right in front of your face. Place your bets. We also get egg coffees at a nice shop trackside to enjoy the ambiance. When you’re done with the drinks, we’ll hop on a taxi again to go back to our office. This is where the tour ends. For the disabled and those who simply have sore feet, we have the cyclo option where you can sit back and tour in quiet comfort.
