Hamburg: 1.5-Hour Harbor and Speicherstadt Day Cruise
- Skip the line through a separate entrance
- Duration: 1.5 hours
One of Europe's largest ports and the reason for Hamburg's nickname 'Gateway to the World,' the Hamburg Harbor is a great spot to check out when you're in the city.
The port is almost as old as the city itself and for centuries has been the center for trade between central Europe and the rest of the world.
This legendary fish market is a must see for all visitors to Hamburg - and they don't just sell fish. You can pick up pretty much anything here. It's well worth a look!
Every May, Hamburg celebrates the birthday of the port. It's a great party atmosphere and an exciting experience, if you're in the city at this time.
The Hamburg Harbor is also a main site of culture in the city, with various museums, musical theaters, bars and restaurants close at hand.
Of course you can visit the Hamburg Harbor at any time of the year, however the best time for tourists is around the Hafengeburtstag, which normally takes place around the 5th of May.
If you're planning a visit to Hamburg, looking for accommodation close to Hamburg Harbor is a great idea, as you'll be close to a number of top sights, as well as many great bars and restaurants.

Great time with Phillip Donnellon on last Saturday in late July. This bike tour was amazing for several reasons. Phillip knows his history, we had a smaller group which made navigating that much easier, we were able to hope on the ferry to Elbphilharmonie, Elbi Tunnel cruising on the bikes again, St. Pauli. We covered so much ground which was amazing and washed it down with a cold brew to finish the tour. Bikes were super comfortable and in great shape. No wobbles, worn seats/handlebars etc. I'm 6'5 and usually the one size fits all puts me in a tough place. 3 speed.
Decent boat with friendly employees! The captain is describing the sights and adjusts his commentary to the ships that currently lie in the harbour, this makes it a great experience! We got to see both the city of Hamburg as well as the impressive harbour at the other side of the river! Highly recommended!
Nice tour around the harbour including close encounters with the big container ships which was the most impressive part. Captain knew a lot about the history of the harbour and the current boats and ships in the harbour. The close pass-by with the Elbphilharmonie was also great.
It was well worth it. It's nice to see the Harbor and Hamburg from the water. The only problem was that we had a hard time understanding the Captain. Might need to look into a different speaker system.
Really liked the tour - learned some interesting facts in a funny way! The hour went by in no time.
