St. Michael’s, Elbe Tunnel & Harbor 2-Hour Hamburg Tour

1. St. Michael’s, Elbe Tunnel & Harbor 2-Hour Hamburg Tour

On this interesting tour you get to see 3 of the most fascinating sights in Hamburg: St. Michael’s Church, the Old Elbe Tunnel, and the harbor. St. Michael’s Church is lovingly called “Michel” by the Hamburg residents and is the youngest of the 5 main churches in the city. Admire the 5 organs, the largest clock tower in Germany, and the impressive bell tower. Enjoy the breathtaking views from the observation deck, which you can access by walking or by lift. Check out the widow homes from the 17th century behind the church in the Krayenkamp, the last remaining examples of typical courtyards buildings around courtyards in Hamburg. You then walk through the Portuguese quarter in the direction of the landing stages. Here you can see the two ships by the shore: Rickmer Rickmers and Cap San Diego. While the hustle and bustle of the landing stages invites you to linger for a while, you continue on to the Old Elbe Tunnel. Climb up the stairs in the over 100-year old construction or take the elevator. Depending on the time remaining, you’ll go under the River Elbe to Steinwerder, where you can enjoy the wonderful panoramic view over the city of Hamburg.

Hamburg: Speicherstadt & HafenCity 2-Hour Walking Tour

3. Hamburg: Speicherstadt & HafenCity 2-Hour Walking Tour

Explore Hamburg on a 2-hour walking tour through the historic Speicherstadt (warehouse district) and the modern HafenCity. You begin the tour at the Rödingsmarkt metro station and cross over the Binnenhafenbrücke after taking a look at the 17th century houses on the Deichstraße. Stroll along the former Zollkanal with fantastic insights into the canals through the Speicherstadt. Discover interesting facts about the origins of this unique warehouse complex. Find out what jobs were available in past times, how products are transported into the building nowadays, why there are no floors, and why only the buildings in the east have round towers. You then cross over the Brooktorkai and join the 21st century. Between glass buildings in modern designs, there are several listed buildings to admire such as the Kaispeicher B (quay warehouse B) with the Maritime Museum, and the Port Authority on Überseeboulevard. Marvel at the highest schoolyard in Hamburg and the unique Elbe Philharmonic Hall at the Coffee Plaza. Enjoy the views from the Unilever building over the harbour and hopefully a large cruise ship.

Informative and entertaining

We booked this tour for a group of American students in English. It was a lot of fun and the nice guide led us confidently and with a lot of expertise through the Speicherstadt and Hafencity. His English was very good. Even about our subsequent tour program, he was able to tell us some facts and figures from the hand (Elbphilharmonie). Thank you very much and will definitely come back to you for the next year.

Brilliant tour guide, very informative!

The guide we had was fantastic. It was only me and my boyfriend and the guide for the entire thing so we were very fortunate. The guide was really lovely, pointing out cafes, restaurants and bars that we could go and visit whilst staying in Hamburg. All in all is was a great two hours!
