Still today, one can still find the original and alternative Hamburg of the 80s and 90s, but gentrification as always has been going on rapidly for quite some time. Over the last 10 to 15 years, more and more young, creative, and financially strong people feel attracted by Schanzenviertel’s milieu. This tour presents both sides, allowing you to get to know a former student and working class neighborhood, and a buzzing nightlife hot-spot caught between gentrification and shopping craziness. Visit the lively Marktstraße in the Karoviertel, lined with alternative shops, bars, and restaurants. The street art is all over the city and offers great photo motifs.  Look into some backyards and see how life works behind the mostly-modern building facades. Hamburg: St. Pauli 2.5-Hour with the White Dandy

This entertainer was recently featured on the posters for the "St. Pauli pinkelt zurück" (St. Pauli pees back) initiative. He will take you on an intimate, informative and extremely funny tour of Hamburg's Reeperbahn and its many side streets. The White Dandy loves to talk about the good old times back when the Star Club still existed, the tramps sparred with the cops, and when he acted onstage with the founder of the Schmit Theater, Corny Littmann. Since he is a true local, he also knows the residential side of the red-light district. He'll be able to provide an authentic portrait of local life. Ask him all the questions you want—he knows, for instance, how the skull became the symbol of St. Pauli, what a "Riechbalken" is, and where 50 Shades of Grey-style S&M is really practiced. What people are saying about Hamburg

Brilliant tour with the highlight DRAGQueen Veuve Noire. We really enjoyed it and it was very interesting and very funny. The insights into life in the neighborhood as a DRAGQueen were explained to us in a great way and not a dry eye stayed. The history of the Reeperbahn and all the trimmings was also explained very well. It was absolutely fun

A very fun and interesting tour. It's nice to experience humanity, joy and fun. Thanks for that! We will be there again.
