Mauritius: Full-Day Catamaran Cruise to the Northern Isles

1. Mauritius: Full-Day Catamaran Cruise to the Northern Isles

Explore Mauritius' 3 Northern Isles in just one day on this full-day catamaran cruise. Marvel at Mauritius' very own island getaways, government-declared nature reserves featuring pristine white sandy beaches, crystal clear waters, and beautiful coral gardens. Enjoy tea, coffee, and cake upon arrival at the catamaran Wind Dancer, then depart from Grand Baie Public Beach after the captain's briefing. Cruise easily for approximately 1 hour on the way to the magical Flat Island. Visit the island before returning to the catamaran for a sumptuous BBQ lunch and drinks. After lunch, explore the beauty of Gabriel Island. Snorkel in the lovely lagoon, or simply laze in the sun on the beautiful sandbar that Gabriel Island is best known for. On the return journey to Grand Bay, make a stop at the natural aquarium of Coin de Mire and swim and snorkel among a multitude of colorful reef fish. The catamaran arrives back in the bay in the afternoon. Both shared and private options are available for this tour.

Mauritius: Private Full-Day Tour of the North Coast

2. Mauritius: Private Full-Day Tour of the North Coast

The north of the island has plenty of beaches, each one more beautiful than the next. The most popular ones among Mauritians and tourists are Trou aux Biches and the long curvy beach of Mont Choisy, which continues from Pointe aux Canonniers to Grand Bay and to the divine Pereybere public beach. In Mauritius, when the north is spoken of, Grand Bay is the first thing that comes to mind. Grand Bay, through sustained development, has become the premier tourist destination of Mauritius. Another picturesque village in the north of Mauritius is Cap Malheureux, with its famous red-roofed church, its view of the northern islands and its important fishing community.

We really enjoyed the excursion. Before all the boats, we arrived first on Gabriel Island and were able to take photos and sunbathe there. We then had a barbecue on the boat and then crossed over to Flat Island, which is across from Gabriel Island. Flat Island has a beautiful lagoon for swimming and the beach is gorgeous too. Overall, we thought Flat Island was nicer and would have loved to have stayed longer. Finally, a snorkeling stop was made in front of the rocky island of Coin de Mire. It is best to pack a thin jacket for the catamaran crossing, which can also get wet because it can get wet in strong waves :-) We would also only recommend the tour for people who have no problems with seasickness etc. have, because the swell should not be underestimated. The guides took great care of us and provided good music and a good atmosphere.

The tour was excellent. The guides were friendly and helpful. The locations we were taken to were wonderful and the guides ensured we got good snorkelling. We noticed too that our tour left earliest and got back to harbour latest, meaning we were out for the longest. The bbq lunch was incredibly generous and genuinely delicious. Our only feedback would be a recommendation to wear swim shoes as the beaches have a lot of loose coral on them, and a sign on the beach indicating the meeting point.

Everything was organised perfectly from the meet and greet and the small breakfast to the delicious barbeque lunch. Three dreamy locations visited during the day with lots of time to soak up the sun, snorkel and explore. Thank you to Marcel and his crew.

Great day to the Northern Islands! The islands are beautiful, the times granted on each were perfect. Brilliant crew, smiling, good humored and super attentive! Very good lunch and drinks throughout! The snorkeling spot at the end was superb!
