Full description

The Costa Tropical boasts 320 days of sunshine a year along with dozens of beaches and coves and traditional towns overlooking the sea. Enjoy a full day soaking up the pleasant atmosphere as you visit the towns along the coast of Granada, such as Salobreña, perched on a hill and home to an old Moorish castle. Stop in historic Almuñecar, founded by the Phoenicians around 1000 B.C. and enjoy a walk in Majuelo Park and a visit to San Miguel Castle. You’ll have lunch in Almuñecar and in the afternoon depart for Nerja, a town in the province of Malaga, to visit the Nerja Caves, an archeological site that’s part of the Spanish Historical Heritage. Marvel at the stalactite and stalagmite formation of this natural spectacle.

You should do this - it was very good value for a 9-10 hour trip. We travelled in a comfortable air-conditioned mini-van with a small group of 8 people with a great guide, Maria, and driver, Jose. Nice scenic drive down the Tropical Coast, first stop was in Almuñecar for the San Miguel Castle, then a park and beach afterwards (Salobrena castle was closed for restoration so we didn't go there). We then headed to Nerja caves which were amazing, followed by a 'late' lunch on Nerja beach (lunch was at 3pm, which is quite late for non-Spanish folk). Food was OK, lots of it and quite tasty. All-in-all, a great day, we weren't rushed and had plenty of time to explore Nerja town after the caves, and Nerja beach after lunch.
