From Salzburg: Half-Day Tour to Hallstatt

1. From Salzburg: Half-Day Tour to Hallstatt

Embark on a half-day scenic tour through the Salzkammergut to Hallstatt. See the town of Hallstatt on a guided tour and explore at your own pace after. Admire the Mullbach waterfall and the Bone House. Start the trip from Salzburg with a drive through the famous Salzkammergut en route to Hallstatt, known as the Pearl of the Salzkammergut. The route will take you through a number of charming villages, as you listen to an introduction to Hallstatt and the Salzkammergut. If you wish to do the Hallstatt Skywalk, the guide will collect the money for the ticket on the bus.  On arrival in Hallstatt, you might begin your visit with a mountain train ride up to the entrance of the world’s oldest salt mines (though the tour does not visit the mine itself), where you can admire the views down onto Hallstatt.  In Hallstatt you will have 2.5 hours to take in the sights. Enjoy a leisurely walk along the lake and marvel at how the houses above you seem to cling onto the mountainside. Pass by the Mullbach waterfall and visit the local museum. A must-see attraction is the Bone House behind the Catholic church, which will give you an interesting view into local family life (admission not included). You’ll then begin the return journey via Abtenau and Russbach to Gosau, where you’ll see the Gosau Lake and admire the views of the Dachtsein mountains.

Private Tour of Hallstatt from Salzburg

2. Private Tour of Hallstatt from Salzburg

This is a great excursion for anyone who loves incredible scenery and history. After meeting your guide in your hotel (or any other location in the city) escape Salzburg for a private excursion to Hallstatt. Journey along the emerald-green Fuschlsee to the first stop at Castle Fuschl. Travel on to St. Gilgen and take a stunning photo of the beautiful scenery from a great view point. Leaving St. Gilgen and driving along the Wolfgangsee our trip will bring you to Bad Ischl, famous for its spa and the Emperor’s summer palace. Driving through Bad Goisern you will reach one of the highlights of our tour, Hallstatt: the pearl of the Lake District. In Hallstatt you can choose between taking the panorama funicular railway up the mountain and experience the magnificent World Heritage view 360 meters above town, on the Hallstatt sky walk and continuing on to the oldest salt mine in the world. Alternatively you can visit the 5 Fingers viewing platform – this is probably the most spectacular viewing platform in the Alps and reaches out like a hand over the 400m drop. But it is not just the viewing platform it is also the route there that offers plenty of special features. After your adventure in the mountains or the salt mine you will have enough time to discover all the hidden gems as well as the must-sees of Hallstatt, as well as to have lunch in one of the beautiful lake side restaurants (at own expense). On your way home from Hallstatt, the Gosausee with its backdrop of the glistening Dachstein glacier awaits for a short stop. Then, journey on along the Dachstein mountain range through the ski resort of Russbach to Golling and finally your guide will drop you off at your hotel or any other destination in the city of Salzburg.

This was our favorite part of our three week Eurotrip!! Hallstatt is STUNNING and to see it in person is so special. Our tour guide, Max, was the best! So informative and related information to everyone on the bus in many different languages. The ride was easy and smooth with lovely sites to see. Max also made it super easy to buy tickets and guide us to the Skywalk - worth the extra $$. After the Skywalk you have plenty of time to explore the village, although, I left there deciding that I will be coming back in the future to get more of Hallstatt! Just a stunning beautiful place. Thanks Panorama Tours!

This was such a great trip. Our guide, Wolfgang, was amazing and funny as well as extremely knowledgeable. Our driver Francis was great as well. Having reading reviews prior to booking this trip I opted out of taking the extra excursion to the platform overlooking Hallstatt because many had said there wasn’t enough time to do that and explore the town. However most of my group end up doing it and said they had plenty of time to do both so I wish I would have done it in hindsight. Overall I’d highly recommend.

Amazing tour! Hallstatt is just a town from fairy tale, cozy and lovely! Many thanks to dear guide Max, he is very responsible, friendly and humorous. During the tour he will introduce the history and jokes! In case someone is as lost as I am, pick your ticket from the kiosk, and the bus is waiting for you cross the road ^^

Great trip to Hallstatt. Friendly and knowledgeable guide who told a lot of interesting information about Hallstatt and Salzburg on the way. You have enough time to walk the Skywalk and afterwards see Hallstatt either on foot or on a boat trip.

Nice tour guide The tour was as expected I recommend it
