Meet your guide at your hotel and start the tour of Berat city. Berat is one of the most visited and characteristic towns in Albania. It is under the protection of UNESCO and considered a World Heritage site due to its unique architecture. Visit Berat Castle and the Onufri Museum. The Berat castle is of particular interest because people still live within its walls in their traditional houses, just like their ancestors did for centuries. Explore this fortress overlooking the town of Berat and its many Byzantine churches. The castle used to have over 40 churches of which 7 still remain today, including the Church of the Dormition of St Mary. The latter was converted into Onufri Museum, honoring the 16th-century Albanian master painter who painted many orthodox churches in Albania and Greece. Witness some of the most beautiful shades of red and gold you have ever laid eyes on in the museum. Then, continue to your next stop in the old quarters of Mangalemi and Gorica that connect with each other by the Gorica Bridge over the Osumi River.

Travel to Berat in the morning at 08:30. Once you get to the city, you will learn that it was invaded three times by Ottomans, Romans and Bulgarians and then became a big principality under the rule of the Albanian noble family of Muzaka in the 14th century. Your will walk on well preserved cobblestone streets. Explore the Onufri Museum inside of the Cathedral of the Saint Mary Assumption (18th century) and admire the icons of the mysterious work of the Onufri painter. Visit the castle, one the most marvelous sights of the city and one of the biggest inhabited castles with many Byzantine churches, as well as some mosques built under the Ottoman era which began in 1417. You will also visit the King Mosque and Helveti Teke. Your next stop will be the old quarters of Mangalem and Gorica connected with each other by the Gorica Bridge over the Osumi River. Both quarters take pride in their architecture and the rare shapes of their houses. Finally, return to Tirana.

Step into Skenduli house, the nicest Ottoman tower house and listen to its history and details from the 10th generation of Skenduli family Soak up to the rich history of the castle and enjoy the view of the “city of stone” from above Pass by the Ottoman Bazaar and historic wooden houses Day 4: The Blue Eye Spring, Butrint National Park & Mussel Tour Boat Ride Continue to Butrint for a guided tour of the Unesco Archaeological site where a local guided explains 2500 years of history embedded in the Amphitheater, the Castle, the Churches and the Lion’s Gate. But before we stop at Blue Eye and marvel at the spring’s shades of blue and nature around it. Set off for a beach day at Ksamil Islands and on the way back to Saranda visit the Lekursi Castle overseeing the city. Day 5: Berat via Porto Palermo Bay & Albanian Riviera Road En route to the city of Berat via the scenic Riviera road, explore the Ali Pasha Castle with your Tour Director. Marvel at the architecture and listen to entertaining legends about the man who build it, Ali Pashe Tepelena. Stop for lunch at a rustic local restaurant along Shushica river. Reach Berat, get settled in the hotel and enjoy an evening in the lights and promenade of this pretty Unesco town. Day 6: Walking Tour & Local Food in Berat (Unesco) This morning set out for a walking guide of “City of Thousand Windows”, where you will admire the Red Mosque, the White Mosque, the Church of the Holy Trinity and the arched bridge of Gorica. In the afternoon Alpeta Winery will welcome you for a cellar and vineyard visit. enjoy lunch with their seasonal home-grown and locally sourced organic delights and their fine wine. Day 7: Departure Transfer to the airport for your return flight home.

Wander around this pretty town with free time for lunch. Transfer to Tirana in the late afternoon.

You will leave at 8:30 in the morning on foot from Rruga Mihal Komnena to go through the city center, where you will have the opportunity to see the Orthodox churches and mosques which are right next to each other. Berat is one of the cities of Albania where there is no need to talk about tolerance between cultures and religions. For centuries, the Christian Orthodox community has coexisted with the Muslim community showing signs of harmony and brotherhood. Going through the famous Mangalem and Gorica districts, crossing the ancient Gorica bridge you will notice that this city has its characteristic stone houses. Once you reach the top of Gorica, you will stop to enjoy the panoramic view. You will return from the opposite side of the hill so you will enjoy a privileged point of view of the surrounding valleys, where oil and wine are produced.
