Private Tour of Alcantara Gorges. Including Food and Wine

7. Private Tour of Alcantara Gorges. Including Food and Wine

This tour is private - only for your party, nobody else, to ensure the highest standards for clients, and includes pickup and drop-off at your accommodation or the port in Taormina, Catania, or Messina. Several thousand years ago, the river Alcantara's bed was blocked by a lava flow from Mount Etna. Over the next millennia, the river naturally eroded a channel through these columns, resulting in impressive gorges and ravines. During this private tour to Gole Alcantara, you will visit the Alcantara park relaxation area. Your friendly private English-speaking guide will explain to you about the origins of this natural phenomenon, about Etna, and Sicily itself. After this refreshing experience, your guide will chauffeur you to the charming seaside town of Giardini Naxos - the first Greek colony in Sicily. You will visit one of the best wine bars and have a delicious and hearty food and wine tasting. The trip was excellent and exceeded our expectations. Our guide Gianfranco picked us up at our hotel right on schedule and stopped at several great viewing locations on the way to and from Mt. Etna. He was very knowledgeable about Mt. Etna and also gave us a lot of great information about Sicily and other things to see and do in the area. I would highly recommend this excursion and Gianfranco as a guide.

Had a lovely trip! We were picked up in Central Taormina and stopped on the way at a wonderful viewpoint. Very knowledgeable guide who showed us around a cave and many other places on our way up to Etna. Then we walked around on the volcano and saw huge craters and old lava flows. It was wonderful! :)

We had an amazing time; the tour guide was very informative and explained everything in detail. I only wish we had more time spent at Taormina, but apart from that, amazing experience. thank you.

Our time with Gianfranco was fabulous! He is a lovely man, so knowledgeable, friendly and articulate. He explained everything so well and made it all so easy. An amazing day!

Once in a lifetime experience. Best thing I did in Sicily
