    1. From Rethymno: Elafonissi Pink Sand Beach Small Group Tour

This is your chance to visit one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Elafonissi is truly a heaven on earth, with soft white/pink sand, exotic crystal-clear water and cedar trees that extend down to the coastline. It is located in the easily accessible, south-western side of Crete. You will be picked-up you from your hotel area around 8.00AM, with these trips being conducted in small groups allowing for better comfort. Your first stop where you will be able to have a short break is the Aghia Sophia cave. Here you can visit the cave, and have coffee or refreshments if you choose. Following this, you will depart for Elafonissi. On your way to Elafonissi you will be able to see small traditional villages combined with typical Mediterranean scenery, as well as the rugged landscape around the Topolia Gorge. Once you have reached Elafonissi, you will have 4 hours of free time to soak ...

Well organised trip with friendly and knowledgable guide Barbara and excellent driver Costas. Good value for money as it is a full 12 hour day trip through stunning Cretan scenery to the paradise beach with a few stop offs. Ideal if you dont have a car. Would recommend.

  • Georgioupolis: Full-Day Trip to Elafonisi Island

    2. Georgioupolis: Full-Day Trip to Elafonisi Island

On this full-day trip, you’ll travel from Georgioupolis to the southwest corner of Crete and spend a relaxing day on the pink beaches of the small island of Elafonisi.  During the 3-hour drive to the island, you can sit back and relax, admiring the beauty of the lush green landscapes, traditional villages, and a small church built inside a cave along the way. After taking a short break to stop for a drink, you’ll reach your destination, Elafonisi,  a picturesque bathing paradise with an island that can be easily reached by foot. The water on the island is shallow, clear and gleams with beautiful shades of blue and green. You’ll have plenty of time to unwind on the beach and to purchase snacks and drinks on the island before returning to Georgioupolis in the evening.

It was a very nice trip. Claudia, the guide, was very nice and informative. The time allotted at the beach (3,5-4 hrs) was a perfect amount of time at the beach and the drive to the beach were beautiful. The only bad thing of the entire trip was the amount of people on the bus who repeatedly took their masks off no matter how many times they were asked to put them back on.

  • From Georgioupoli: Easy Hiking Day-Trip to Imbros Gorge

    3. From Georgioupoli: Easy Hiking Day-Trip to Imbros Gorge

Our driver will lead you south through the Askifou Mountains to the village of Imbros. But first there will be a short stop for refreshment in a charming tavern. The walk will last about two hours since the gorge is 8 km long. The end of the gorge is close to Komitades Village. The bus will be waiting for you there and will take you to a beautiful beach. There will be time to swim and have lunch prior to returning. This gentle hike is suitable for all those who are steady on their feet. It is also appropriate for families with children as well as fit elderly people.

What people are saying about Georgioupoli

A very nice tour to Elafonissi. The tour guide Barbara was extremely nice and hard-working, and she also told a lot of interesting things about Crete. Another plus point was that the program of our day was changed a bit - Barbara said that we would go directly to Elafonissi and only stop at the Agia Sophia cave in the afternoon, as August is high season and we have a small chance on sun loungers in Elafonissi - which turned out to be the right decision! Everyone in the bus was given couches, half an hour later everything was full. In the restaurant we had the feeling of being mass-processed as there were some other tour groups on site and everything was very hectic and (my guess) some dishes were already pre-cooked and therefore not quite warm - but as I said, we were there in high season. Nevertheless, the excursion is absolutely recommendable!

Great tour and great guides, everyone should have seen Elafonissi! Thanks to Barbara's tips, we also found a nice place where it wasn't so crowded. A stop on the way back would have been enough for me personally (we drove to Hagia Sophia in the afternoon after the village of Elos instead of in the morning). Can only recommend the tour!

The most amazing place I have ever seen in my whole life !!! Our guide, Costa Our guide was great from start to finish! Great atmosphere During the whole trip, he explained us all the history and gave us the guided tour. Thanks to the great driver Petro who took us and brought us back safe and sound.
