Full description
Visit the site of the first Winter Olympics! In Chamonix you’ll experience majestic scenery on a drive through the Arve Valley and from the 12,605-foot viewing platform on Europe’s highest mountain. This full-day tour begins in Geneva with a drive across the French border through the glacier-fed Arve Valley. At Chamonix you’ll marvel at the splendid backdrop of the massive peaks of the Aiguilles Rouges. You’ll take the cable car up to Aiguille du Midi, which was the world’s highest cable car ride when it was launched in 1955. Enjoy breathtaking panoramas of this Alpine wonderland, with views into France, Switzerland, and Italy. Lunch will be at your leisure. You will also have the chance to ride the astonishing Montenvers rack railway to the Mer de Glace glacier. The journey on this electric train covers 3 miles of beautiful mountainous scenery before arriving at the longest glacier in France. You're free to spend the day as you please. Wander by foot to discover the town’s many delights, such as Parc Loisir, Musée Alpin, Lac Gaillands or Atelier Les Racines. Neil is an amazing guide, so funny and he shares so much information of what you can do during this trip, in Geneva and outside Geneva. I thought it was great going by yourself at your own pace and taking time to see the places you're interested the most rather than having to follow a group. Gondola and the train are well worth it and the cafe from L'Aiguille du Midi has the most amazing view and food is quite nice.

Train cancelled ( also both cable cars ) due to high winds ,so the tour had to revised! You can’t control nature but the tour tried its best to please by taking us to Annecy and refunding were appropriate . I would ,and will ,use this company again for further trips despite the issues on this one as they do their best to please under the cercimstances.

Majestic day is the Alps

Great weather, great views. I was overdressed for the warm weather. I only did the du Midi lift ticket to top of Mont Blanc and skipped Mer de Glacé. Not disappointed as I spent extra time on the peak and not rushed. Then a few hours in the small village of Chamonix.
