1. From Baku: Gabala and Shamakhi Nature Tour

After pickup from your hotel in Baku, head off into the Azerbaijani mountains for a full-day adventure. You’ll start in the Shamakhi region, visiting the the Juma mosque, dating back to the 12th century. Driving through the picturesque north-eastern caucasian mountains, you’ll arrive in Gabala. After sitting down for a lunch of traditional Azerbaijani delicacies, you’ll head off into the verdant mountains that Gabala is renowned for. At the foot of Mount Tufandagh, you’ll board a cable card to head up to the top of the mountain to gaze upon the lush valleys beneath you.  Afterwards, head off to Nohur Lake, known for its emerald-green waters surrounded by stately mountains. Hopping in to a Soviet-era Lada car, you’ll mount the hill up to the 7 Beauties Waterfall, named for the 7 stages of the falls. After taking in innumerable natural beauty, you’ll head back to your accommodation in Baku.

2. From Baku: Gabala Day Trip

Get picked up from your Baku hotel and drive towards Gabala. On the way, stop in Shemakha for a break and grab a bite to eat or a tea. Arrive in Gabala and head to Lake Nohur, a pristine lake surrounded by high mountains. Take in views of the tranquil setting and let the noise of the city melt away. Although swimming in the lake is prohibited (the lake is also used as a reservoir and provides drinking water for Gabala and surrounding regions), it is a perfect place for fishing. You can also hop on a boat and explore the lake at your leisure.  Then head to a nearby waterfall called Seven Beauties. A seven-tiered waterfall with multiple cascades, Seven Beauties is a must-see destination in the area. Because the trek up the steep slope alongside the waterfall is quite dangerous, it will be possible to see only two of the cascades. Sit and rest in a seasonal restaurant and teahouse where little sunlight penetrates and enjoy the cool shade as you listen to the rushing water of the falls.   Continue on to visit the Tufandag Winter Resort and ride the longest cable car in the world. Go skiing or take in unforgettable summer views of the Alpine landscapes beyond Gabala. Then visit the Gabala Sport Club, a world-class facility that trains professional athletes in shooting, boxing, karate, taekwondo, soccer, and judo. Try your hand at shooting onsite in the place where the national Olympic team trains.  Head back to Baku after an active day in and around Gabala.

Our driver and guide was Habil/ Habeel. The entire trip was long, but he made our journey fun. we went to Sheki Khan Palace which was our favourite spot, beautiful place and story behind it. We skipped the waterfall as it is 200 steps to reach the spot, but Habil was able to show us an alternative place that was breath taking. last note, stop at Nohur Gol restaurant, food, view and place are just fabulous! Thank you Habil/ Habeel!

Fantastic trip that made it possible to see the entire landscape of Azerbaijan and have a view of the interior and mountains of the Caucasus. Our guide Habil was fantastic. Very attentive and polite. No defects. Note 20
