Cape Town to Gans Bay: Shark Cage Dive and Viewing

1. Cape Town to Gans Bay: Shark Cage Dive and Viewing

You will be picked up from your Cape Town or Hermanus hotel in a luxury, air-conditioned bus, which will take you to the local partner's facilities opposite the harbour slipway. Enjoy unspoilt sea views with your complimentary continental breakfast during the safety briefing. Get kitted up in your 5mm wetsuits while still on land and head out to Shark Alley on Megalodon II. Once anchored, the sharks are lured by bait line to the cage. Viewing from the deck of the boat is almost as exciting as getting into the cage for an unforgettable close encounter. Approximately 3 hours at sea allows for more than one dive. The cage takes 4 or 5 people at a time on a rotational basis. There are drinks and snacks on board to enjoy while you warm up on the deck, before having another underwater encounter with these awe-inspiring apex predators. No diving experience is necessary for this surface cage dive, it's as easy as holding your breath. The onboard cameraman is there to capture this unforgettable experience for you and after viewing the day's footage back on land, while you enjoy a hot lunch, you can choose to purchase a souvenir USB. Enjoy land-based whale watching en route back to Cape Town or airport transfers at no extra cost.

What people are saying about Gans Bay

A must-do while in Cape Town! We had bought the shark viewing & cage diving for us, a family of 4 with 2 parents & 2 teenage boys. No problem to find the place by car at the harbor front in Gansbaai - make sure to start in time, at least 2.5 hours before. Luckily the heavy traffic was mostly towards Cape Town and not in our direction. At White Shark Ventures we were met by very friendly staff, had a nice breakfast and got changed into wet suits. Make sure to bring sun screen as you will be at sea for 2-3 hours, so at least for the head and hands. We got out with the 2:nd tour (at 11.00, due to the tide) and headed to the other side of the bay with about 20 people. Quite soon we saw a Copper Shark and soon after, we were lucky to get the Great White Shark very close to us several times. Amazing! We saw it from the boat and the water from inside the cage, about 4 people at a time. Afterwards we had lunch and concluding information about their preservation work. Warmly recommended!

It was a really great experience. When we arrived, we were greeted with breakfast, received a short briefing (in English) and Nepor suits, since the water itself now only gets 10 to 14 ° C in summer. Then we went out by boat for about 5 km. As soon as the first shark showed up, the first 5 people could enter the cage. Little by little there were more and more sharks that kept coming close to the cage. -Madness! Even if you chose not to get in the cage, you had a good view. In the end, a baby seal also appeared. After about half an hour there was a change and the next 5 people were able to get into the cage. Finally, the question was asked who would be interested in a second round. After a total of about 2-3 hours on the water we drove back and received a delicious lunch. The dive was also filmed. We were lucky with the weather. Really highly recommended!

Great Team - Great Information - Have had seen 4 Copper Sharks and I was so lucky to see a 4Meter long White Shark from inside the cage :-)

The best experience in the world! Totally worth it and the crew was so nice and professional!

even if we didn't see white sharks, only bronze sharks, it was a fantastic experience !!!
